Stanford or MIT for chem/bioish engineering...

Having trouble deciding, and the other threads only addressed CS/EE engineering. What about for the chem/bio-ish engineering courses?

They’re giving practically identical money. Transportation will be covered in my financial aid package. I prefer Cali weather. Reputation is, as it is for many people, of some importance. Not too much though…

Those are the top two schools for engineering.

Stanford is more known for ChemE and BioE, I think, compared to MIT’s ME and EE focuses. But the differences are slight.

On the contrary…MIT is famous and rank #1 for chemE. i am not too sure about bio E though. I have assumed you have heard the argument over and over that prestige doesn’t matter and you should pock the college with the best fit, but i understand…its not always easy…

When you’re choosing between MIT and Stanford, the difference in prestige isnt even a factor anymore.

MIT’s bioE program was just recently started a few years ago.

Does anybody know anything about Stanford’s, though?

I don’t believe that stanford actually offers a bioengineering major (the closest things they have are biomechanical engineering and biomedical computation). However, you have the freedom to design your own major, constructing your courseload and name it bioengineering. Although the result probably won’t be as great as getting a BS from a college that actually offers it.

I believe that MIT was the first university in the country and perhaps the world to institute a chemical engineering program.

The rankings also indicate that MIT is ranked higher than is Stanford in ChemE. However, I agree that at this level, the rankings mean little.
