Did anyone else get admitted? BTW, approximately how many people applied to this program?

hey dude have you ever been to the stanford summer school or do you know someone who’s been? If yes how was it? Is it a lot of work? Are the people nice/how’s the atmosphere?

thanks

Yay…I’ve been accepted!!! Whoo…go acceptees!

When did you send in your application? I sent in my application on April 12th and still haven’t heard back.

Hmmm…about a month ago actually. I got my response back within three weeks, so it’ll come soon. Don’t worry!

True true… where are you from? maybe if i get accpetd i can get into this with a few friends before i even go

I sent mine on April 11. I got my acceptance today.

Ha, so I should be getting it in the next couple days… I’m from New York and I’ll probably be attending… what about you?

Yes. I will be attending

YES… accepted!! :)

I attended SSC last summer and I had an amazing time! The dorms at Lagunita are gorgeous on the outside, but a little small- luckily I got the biggest on my floor. Make sure to go to as many excursions as possible- those are the best part. As far as courseload, I took 3 academic classes and a kickboxing class. I made my schedule so that I only had academic classes on Tuesday and Thursday and only kickboxing on Wednesday.

some advice:
- bring snacks! the dining hall closes around 7 (i think?) and sometimes it’s kind of a hassle to go to the store and get food at night
- sign up for plenty of excursions
- if you play an instrument, bring it
- extension cords aren’t needed
- if you have one, bring one of those cords for your internet access…they are sold in the bookstore too
- you MUST go to the Bender Room in Green Library to study…it’s the perfect study room.
- rent plenty of dvd’s— rentals at Green Library are free and they have every movie ever made, practically. the only condition is that you return it within 24 hours (but you can renew online, so no biggie)
- buy your textbooks right away (they can run out), but don’t buy any small supplemental books until after the first class since you might not need all of them
- be careful about locking up your bike

thanks! do we have to buy a bike?

You can rent one at the Campus Bike shop for around $300 for the entire 8-week period. Free repairs/helmet/lock included I think.

Is it necessary? Can’t I just walk around campus?

It’s a pretty big campus. I found out after a day of walking that I’d much rather just bike.

A scooter works, too. grin

SUMMER COLLEGE IS THE NECTAR OF LIFE.
You realize that they basically spoil you for 8 weeks, and if you play your cards right, the academics can pay off big time. I made lifelong friends (ie. chittychittybangbang but she’s not on much) and it was def. one of the best experiences of my life. The dorms, the sex, the campus, the people, the showers, the laundry rooms, the undergrad research college, palo alto, the professors, the RESIDENT STAFF, the potential research…just awesome.

I’m right here!! Hahahhaa that was really sweet!!
we love you too Ashveer!

…the poetry, the destruction of printers, the pixie sticks in brown paper bags…

…the leek and onion tarlets, the cereal requests, and the swing/waltz workshop! Nostalgia is great.
