Stanford Summer Humanities Institute 2020

@Eudora_9 I also got into the religious and politics course. Is there a group chat?

@tjay58 I’m not sure we should wait and see if more people gets in and make one for the entire program might be best

Has anyone gotten into Racial Identity in the American Imagination (Session 2)? Haven’t seen anyone besides me so far… :frowning:

So I know I replied in December, but I ended up applying Regular because of my procrastination :frowning: Looking at this thread is making me really nervous

@sparkatzz don’t be nervous! if anything, it should be reassuring that we don’t all have super high test scores and stuff haha

btw, if anyone needs/wants essay help, i’d be up for reading some! ?

Is anyone applying (or applied) to Philosophy tracks? I feel like most people are applying to history/lit courses.

I applied for the Greeks and Beyond course as my first choice as well as Film and Philosophy. I was also planning on applying Early but ended up doing regular because of procrastination and now I feel super scared ahahahaha

I’m in Jefferson Session I  looking forward to it… anyone else waiting for TASP results?

i’m still a sophomore but i’ll definitely be in the same boat next year haha! there are too many programs to do and not enough summers to do them during

@alittlepollia I applied to the same classes too haha. Did you use their prompt for writing sample? I ended up spending too much time on writing sample to write decent responses.

@sparkatzz I wanted to spend more time on my responses so I just took an old essay and edited it to make it fit the requirements.

That’s probably smarter  I decided to go with the more philosophical prompt, which was a struggle because I have never written a Philosophy paper before.

Ohh ok. I’m a bit worried about my writing sample because the topic has nothing to do with the courses I applied to. Is the writing sample really important for the application?

@alittlepollia I think the writing sample’s important because it’s another way to show your ability, but it doesn’t have to relate to your course. My writing sample was an essay about the influence of the Chinese government through Confucius Institutes, and I applied for the magical realism class.

Me!

@user_743245 sorry, were you replying to me? i can read your essays if you PM me ?

@inflorescent yeah! Okay sure!

@user_743245 actually, idk if new users can really PM. if you can’t, just leave your email address (if you have a spam/fake one that’d probably be safer lol)

I got in to session 1 Greeks and beyond… anyone else? btw does anyone know about the uchicago summer intensive latin program? I got into both and don’t know which one to choose!
