southern cali, I AM SO WITH YOU!!! public schools SUCK!

fun fact for today: I always fall in love with at least one person who lives across the hall or next to me in a dorm. When I was in boarding school, I swear I was in love with this guy and we did a lot of things together. I left boarding school because of several pressures I was under, but 4 years later, I contacted him and told him how I felt. He said he didn’t feel the same way :(

When I attended this Catholic university, I developed feelings for this boy who lived two doors away from me. I admit it was infatuation at first, but my feelings became stronger as we got to know each other better. According to my friends, I actually dated him without realizing it. We paid for each other’s stuff, and apparently, guys don’t do that.

Here at NU, I’ve had feelings for two separate guys, in the two separate dorms I’ve lived in so far. One I stopped myself from getting to know because he had a gf sort of. As for the other, I left a drunken message on his door one night telling him I love him. I’m of course super embarrassed about it, but he’s cool about the whole thing.

There are many good schools beside Stanford…like USC and Darthmouth…from which people appear to be transferring out of. :/

hey treelion I think your fun facts would make a good book, given a good writer :)

Thank you. The purpose of these fun facts is to make the wait a little more bearable :). What is your fun fact for today, seouljah?

whoever deleted my posts, should delete liontree’s too. save the drama for your mama. this is collegeconfidential, not ■■■.

Yea, notice my post in response to your name-calling was deleted too because I quoted what you said? Posts with any mention of that word are deleted. It’s derogatory to females, but I’m not even female. Come on, now. I expect more of Berkeley students.

don’t associate me with my school. i don’t care about environmental issues, poverty, racism, or inequality. i’m not even liberal. hence my desire to transfer.

how does it look to Stanford to be applying in your third year at a CCC? I saw on their transfer website that there is no actual limit to how many years you can apply with as their is with many other private schools, just wondering if i would have a chance with it being my third year. also, ive heard Stanford is CCC friendly, does that mean most of the transfer applicants are from CCC’s?

thanks

Southerncali, I’m not sure you would be any happier at Stanford then if you “don’t care about environmental issues, poverty, racism, or inequality.” Stanford’s mission is

oh geeeez simmer down. :)

21 days left (including today) until May 15! Last year, though, decisions were released on May 12.
See p. 18 of this thread:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/467805-stanford-2008-transfer-18.html

I don’t know about you, but in the email updating me on the status of my application, they said the decisions would be released ON May 15th, around 5 PM Pacific. I don’t know if that is just procedure, but it sounded like a definite time for me. I figured they might have been busier this year or something.

I believe May 15th was the designated release date last year as well, but I guess Stanford finished decisions early and decided to surprise applicants.

Ya, i think May 15th is their date every year. Just something about the wording in the email made me think it was a definite “this is when you will know” type of thing. Idk, maybe last got the same email. All i know, I need to make it through finals first!!

Actually, last year, they were given a definite time as well (but 3pm Pacific instead of 5). You’re saying they sounded more confident this time in setting a later time? You might be onto something…who knows, maybe they received more apps?

Time for another fun fact! You guys should participate… let’s keep this thread alive!

I have a blood relative who’s a current cardinal. He was one of 117 in the world (and one of 11 in Asia) to help decide the current pope as part of the 2005 papal conclave. My entire family is Catholic except for me, though I was for 17 years (I went to mass every Sunday in all those years, rarely missed). At some point, I just realized it wasn’t for me, but I don’t hate it necessarily. I have many Catholic friends and am actually taking part in a Catholic event tonight called “Santacruzan.”

oh this sucks so bad. i sent in my deposit for wellesley, which they waived the 300 dollar deposit… but now I have this guilt that I am uber stoked for stanford. I know its a one in a million chance, but who knows right?
argh. i just have to plan my wellesley schedule and put my blinders on… I am thinking that stanford and possibly Johns Hopkins might be the only things to pull me from Wellesley…
What do you guys think about Hopkins or Wellesley? The faculty at wellesley so far has been bending over backwards for me and their alumni group has been more than welcoming to me here in LA. The LA alum group of Wellesley/Harvard/Princeton has been inviting me to all their events and I am not even a student yet! My interviewer was so incredibly encouraging and I loved how you can easily take classes at MIT (esp the LEGO class for the math modeling requirement!). The financial aid is too ridiculous kick ass to pass up too. I only have to pay 1920 dollars a year to wellesley! All the rest is grant money! No LOANS!! arrrgh. so stressful.
the biggest con about wellesley is grade deflation !! the average graduating GPA is so darned low i am concerned about grad SCHOOL!!
I wonder how the fin aid at S and JHU is! Anyone have a clue?

When did you guys receive an email saying that your application was complete? I got an email saying that mine was incomplete a week ago and then one day later they sent me an email saying that every thing was complete. Just wondering if that was a mistake or if they received everything.

wellesley is amazing! congrats! wellesley offers a very traditional liberal arts education, and a lot of my friends go there. the winters are kinda brutal, and the location is not perfect, but you are able to cross register at other schools and take classes. i think it’s a fantastic opportunity and more traditional than jhu or s.
