I think its supposed to be Elko, which is a city in CA.

no El Camino Community College. He was really active on campus.

roger, i stand corrected.

could you guys give some of your stats? gpa, if your from a community college, ec’s, etc…?

thanks

community college
hs gpa: 2.91
college gpa: 3.4 (damaged by d from 10 years ago)
major gpa: 4.0 (anthropology)
sat: 1900 (550 math, 700 cr, 650 wr)

took the sat this january as a 32 year old and didn’t study for it. guess i should have. :)

hehe i didnt mean to sound like a robot. but i have half a keyboard that isnt functional (spilled wine on it) so it frustrates me to type =P

im CC. SAT, 1400old 2290 new. college gpa also damage by a D, but I retook the course. without the D 3.89, with the D, 3.6 ish? My major is questionable haha, but maybe English/PoliSci.
ecs: vp of honors tp, publicity chair rotaract, chief newslet. ed., reading to Korean children who have limited exposure to english language, all these things I truly participate in, and i went into more detail on the app itself. but my background before this and last year is interesting hopefully.
I have stories about what I did around the world since I turned 18, Im 24.
In HS. I didnt think it mattered, but I put it in additional comments. I was in Lacrosse and Crew and was the perfect HS student, was winning national recitals/competitions since I was 4 in piano… but i didnt do well at college my first go around…hence the D.
I went to (according to that silly ranking of high schools) a top 10 public school… now its not top 10 anymore but surely top 50… it moves around a lot.

3.914 gpa at a top public univ. 30 on the act, perfect score 12 on writing. freshman and sophomore year of hs had 4.4 gpa. junior-senior around a 2.5 (not sure). was going through a lot of personal problems. as far as ec’s i’m on the board of several judicial review boards on campus and we hear cases that run the gamut from greek hazing to academic dishonesty. i’m also on the varsity ski team, but we kinda suck.

cool ski team in socal :PPP

i live in socal, but i go to school in norcal. we train at lake tahoe at the same resort as stanford, we compete with them, and even sit next to them in the cabin.

ah cool. i have never been to l. tahoe but I wanna go. PS, I love palo alto it reminds me of home…with palm trees!! why do u want to go to S?

There aren’t too many spectacular things about my life haha.
I guess something that I am pretty proud of is that i know all the words to Rapper’s Delight, the original 17 minute version, by the Sugarhill Gang. I am big into music, so its kind of a big deal to me.

my mom is married to a guy in prison. :

my pomeranian can say things … it sounds like samuel l jackson sometimes.

my neighbor just defaulted on a 50 million dollar loan, and now their house is being foreclosed :(

wow, so.cali; that sucks!

I think people from top universities and IVY league shouldn’t apply to Stanford for transfer. Think of the poor community college students…this is literally the LAST chance to go to a good school.

There are many other good schools apart from Stanford.

missyujin, you should apply to the school that i am leaving, and just take my spot while i go to stanford
But it is so true, there are A LOT of great schools outside of Stanford. Outside of Ivy League, and the top 20, or 30, or whatever you consider the “top.” It really should only matter what is a good fit for you. And if you are looking for rigor, a lot of schools can deliver that, it just depends on what you choose to do there. I have friends at schools you probably never heard of that work as hard as me, and then friends at “top” schools that do **** (pardon my language, it just ****es me off).

i don’t care about ivies per se. i’d be happy at most of the expensive top 40 private schools that have a smaller student body. i’m in love with boston college (for an example) and tufts too. i just desperately want to get out of the public school system!
