I didn’t find a cure for anything, but one of my ancestors did something minor though.

I’m basing my information on what posters who were accepted in previous years said. I don’t have hard data. You could ask people on the Stanford transfers group on FB though to confirm. I already contacted some of them, and they’re nice :)

that would be nice!

missyujin, from my ccc. 1 got in last year and year b4. but here are the stats: NOT 4.0 (3.7), YES honors transfer prog, gay, latino, single mom, poor, ghetto area (san pedro), head of ICC, pres of honors club, good with honors director. spanish major.

dont give up hope promise?
p.s. i wrote about that evangelical million dollar bill that ppl hand out at school for my intellectually engaging essay.
Whatd u write about? i read so many, i feel sooooo under intellectual?

I was grinning when I read the 3.7, but then started crying after that.

I’m in honors but was too stupid to sign up for transfer programs,
I’m straight,
I’m Asian,
I have both parents,
I live in a pretty good area, (although we’re not good financially)
and I ain’t head of anything…nothing at school, anyway.
I’m English major.

Oh, for intellectual vitality, I wrote about my dad’s story. He was involved in a government conspiracy in South Korea and was imprisoned for three years (click on my user name -> click home page -> written work -> non fiction -> His Story is History).

Of course, that’s not what I submitted, since it’s too long, but that’s the story in its full, expanded form.

^^^ wow, that was intense!

i’m over sob-stories.

MISSYUJIN!! omg your story, reminded me a little of this movie I saw. I totally want to know the name of it and you may know it!!!
Let me tell u the premise: Korean war. on the front lines. It is a korean movie, big American budget type. U know how they drafted one boy from the family and left one home? Well they took the young brother, but the older brother tried to take him back and both were drafted. The older brother tried to get really noticed and famous by being brave and taking the initiative in all the little missions, so he could have the power to send his younger brother home. But he got power hungry and a little messed up in his head. Well, during the break time he went home and everything went nuts there because his fiancee was accused of being a communist because she signed her name on a paper for rice, the two brothers saw her arrested and were going to save her and she got killed. The older bro also thought his little bro was killed in a fire, so he went to the communist side and at the end tho he fought against his little bro but something happened and he saw his little bro was alive, but was killed protecting his little bro, And something about a parker pen. Do you know this movie?

oh and p.s. i didnt really put too much that rings the heart out in my intellectual vitality (or really any of them) essay. Im feeling a few marks lower now =P. Actually my vitality story was rather … cynical. I ended with Im curious but i didnt really go much in depth b/c 1800 char is SO little I was cutting out so much.

Lol, what does your being straight have to do with it? I’m not saying it’s not a
remarkable achievement, especially these days, but is it even relevant?

Btw, I was responding to missiugjin or whatever listing his/her stats

o i think she was listing those to contrast a guy i know who got in last year from a CCC.

I think I know whom you’re talking about, JGee. He’s pretty sweet. We PMed each other back and forth on FB… unless there’s another gay Latino guy.

Oh yea, missyunjin was just describing herself in terms of how she differed from this applicant JGee was talking about.

is he from el camino? thats the only guy i know. hehe. he turned it down right?

Yep. It’s called the Tale of Two Brothers. Watched it twice, cried both times.

Yup. :]

I’ve always been interested in my dad’s story, because he never really told us outright. I had to do my own research about it, and that’s what I wrote about in my essay.

Tale of two brothers. now i wont forget it. Geesus. I NEVER cry for movies because I am a stone, but that movie choked me up a bit and made my eyes water.

No, he’s not. and the guy I’m talking about is actually attending Stanford. two different guys, I guess. whoops :)

Missyujin, have you seen “My Father” with Daniel Henney in it? I believe it’s a Korean movie also. I’ve always wondered how he was as an actor.

I haven’t seen that, but I did see “Seducing Mr.(Something, I forgot)” with Daniel Henney.

I honestly don’t think he’s a good actor.

Hey have any of you guys heard from Stanford yet? Does anyone know if Stanford has received all of your documents/letters of rec etc.? I’m wondering if calling the admissions office will be of any use to me.

I’ve been wondering that as well.
