I had just finished talking to a friend of mine about this. He believes its a waste of time to spend so much on Stanford to simply earn a degree from a so-called “ivy league level school” when one can get the same education/experience in a state school. He believes that there are an equal amount of tallented people in both schools and see nothing special about Stanford. What do you think about this? He believes its a myth that students at “prestigious” universities simply are driven and value their education more than students at CSUs. What do you think about this? Why do YOU want to attend Stanford when people can attend state schools?

I’m not going to give my opinion, but

Let your friend take a look at this:

[NRC Rankings in Each of 41 Areas](NRC Rankings in Each of 41 Areas)

Value their education more? Stanford’s graduation rate is like 96%. Does SJSU’s even break 70%??

Equal number of talented people? Tell that to the thousands of students who don’t get in but who get into SJSU.
