Stanford vs Harvey Mudd

I’m posting for a friend, but here’s the situation:

Stanford has music, not just a major, but a minor, in addition to extensive opportunities for non-degree-seeking students. Also Stanford’s amazing in physics… tons of leading people here (like the father of string theory), and Stanford has the longest linear particle accelerator in the world, just off main campus: SLAC. Undergrads can do research there too. I don’t know if your friend is interested in particle physics, but Stanford’s the way to go if they are.

Not going to find much of that at the undergrad level at Stanford. Sorry?

^ I agree you won’t find much of it if such statements are “I wonder what it implies for tachyons,” which sounds pretentious. But there’s plenty of ‘nerdy’ discussion here. (Though I might be saying that because of the specific groups I’ve joined.)

Also, hows the tutoring at Stanford? And does Stanford have any outreach programs with schools around the area where people can get some teaching experience?
