I was accepted by Stanford, but I can attend NYU for free. I am most interested in the kind of intelligent community that Stanford can provide, but I feel as though a full ride through NYU is too good of a deal to pass up. I’m curious as to what any of you might suggest regarding my decision :).

It depends… how much would you have to pay if you went to Stanford? If the cost isn’t that much I’d choose Stanford.

both schools are completely different and very good. if you went to NYU, maybe you would be the top of your class and gain more opportunities…

i think NYU…you are getting a full ride scholarship and it is extremeley prestigious…stanford is great annd all, but 200,000 dollars? seriously, it’d take you at least few years after you graduate to pay that off…

Just listen to the [NYU fight song](http://www.gonyuathletics.com/custompages/NYU_Fight_Song.mp3) all the way through. You’ll be opting for Stanford just to make it stop.

Really, if that is their fight song, what must the rest of the college experience be like?

Free??? You won’t find too many ppl on the Stanford thread saying it, but I’d take NYU!

NYU undergrad is strong, and Tisch, Stern, NYU law, etc are all great too so that even further increases NYU’s prestige.

Stanford is a slightly stronger undergrad imo, but def not worth $200k more. NO TUITION tips it in NYU’s favor. You’ll be at the top of your class; you’ll be out of debt; and you’ll still be able to get into the best grad schools.

NYU seems to be the way to go!
good luck making a decision

I would choose Stanford, but that’s simply because I’m in love…:D!

To the OP,

I got into NYU (MLK full merit scholarship) too, but was deferred and then rejected from Stanford. Just in case you were wondering, I would have chosen Stanford over NYU in a heartbeat (even if it meant I had to go into debt) had I been accepted. Go with your heart, not your pocket book, unless of course the financial stress of stanford tuition would negatively impact your family’s way of life - I’m headed to Duke/Columbia!
