Hello
Child deferred then rejected from dream school MIT
But other options are great however difficult to decide
Need community input for help with decision between
Stanford
Princeton
U Penn M and T program
Georgia Tech
Interested in technology/start ups with possible business/finances
Thank you
All input welcome
M&T covers the bases, no? A joint engineering and Wharton program? A lot depends on where the student envisions themself, but it hard to think of a better programmatic match for your student’s interests.
What is the cost difference between these schools?
I mean, there’s no wrong answer.
Where does the student feel best? Ga Tech is in the city as is Penn…Stanford and Princeton are more suburban, etc - with Princeton in a great town.
I agree on paper, Penn seems a tremendous fit - but you’ll find future leaders at all four. And if after being on campus, one truly stands out, that’s probably the place the student should be.
Best of luck.
Agree that on paper Penn M&T sounds like an ideal fit but (assuming affordability) they are all phenomenal options. I’d let your child choose the school that feels right.
Congrats!
Congratulations! Based on his interests M and T seems like a perfect fit. Next best would be Stanford for an aspiring techie and entrepreneur. Wharton has one of the best programs for entrepreneurship and finance. M and T grads are highly sought after in industry. Also his previous ECs or background would help in determining which school would suit the strengths.
Penn is in the middle of everything in West Philly. The campus is weaved into the city and very vibrant. That is one of the charms of Penn. Lots of ethnic cuisines and Wharton is unparalleled.
If the goal is creating or working with a startup, then the clear choice is Stanford.
Tech and startups infuse the bay area like no other place in the world, and no colleges have an entry into that world the way that Stanford and Berkeley do.
It appears that poster said Penn “is in the city.”
I agree with this. Your child is going to be spending four years wherever he chooses to matriculate. This should be his choice, assuming all are affordable. And these acceptances all have their strengths.
Stanford > UPenn > Princeton > Georgia Tech. If one of then is full ride then it goes to the top.
If cost is not an issue I’d go Stanford given the interest in tech/startups. The connections are unreal!
A lot of good choices! have a Penn student who loves it! I think attending as many of the admitted student days as you can will be very helpful to narrow the list.
Hmmm…I would agree with this except that in this case the Penn option is M&T. That’s pretty amazing and IMO puts it above Stanford.
Stanford has options where you can do courses similar to an M and T program but to get dual degrees you may need to spend 5 years or have Major and minor in 4 years. Lots of innovation at Stanford probably more than UPENN. But cant go wrong with either
Congratulations on the amazing acceptances. What did your child finally select?
