Yes, specifically Human Biology
Oh ok. So either humanities is coming in a later wave or they had a strong yield for humanities kids.
I actually got off the waitlist last night as well and I am humanities kid — so not sure if it correlates to major.
@kath67937 are you from California?
@kath67937 what specifically was your major?
I am from California. I applied for Anthropology.
Did everyone who got off the waitlist come from California???
For anyone who got in, did you utilize the box they gave you on the form to accept your spot on the waitlist? Like, did you write any updates on your year for Stanford to know about?
Does such a highly selective school like Stanford release a second wave? Normally wouldn’t the people who got off the waitlist yesterday be the only ones off the waitlist? Or are we all praying on COVID to get people to take gap years and lower enrollment (which I doubt since Stanford has to still approve of all the gap year requests)
There’s usually an extended waitlist but I haven’t seen anyone me get in from it on older cc posts. Unless they changed things this year, there’s a very little chance for us
I mean they did say they would go to the waitlist in stages this year so. Honestly no one knows what they’re doing they could be doing something completely different this year or they might not be.
@quackers333 were your friends that got off from california?
Guys, let’s keep our expectations low but keep the hope alive!
They probably took a good amount of Cali waitlist kids to have a higher chance of filling the class (ex. people don’t have to travel far to get to campus/need to fly). Also premed/human bio kids that got accepted to stanford in the first place probably committed to Harvard or another elite school that might be better for med hence the influx of those majors getting accepted. As for humanities and other STEM, i have no prediction as to how they are using the waitlist
I am like all of you, checking this thread and reddit and my portal and email for changes to no avail. I felt hopeless on Friday when I saw people getting in. Heck we are apart of the 2% that made it to waitlist which is already awesome but we all know the cherry on top would be that acceptance! and all of you are so smart and would do well at Stanny or anywhere else. I am praying for more waves but expecting no news until late May…then again, everything is not normal right now; i mean stanford released on a friday instead of thursday for waitlist LOL!
anyways, I just wanted to dump all of these thoughts somewhere because I know, like me, some people are facing a lot of anxiety surrounding this thread and the waitlist. just keep swimming everybody
Thank you, for this ^
I thought I was the only person that felt this way :c
For the people admitted on Friday, what is your deadline to respond? I saw one person said May 29…
Yes, the letter states that we have until May 29 to respond

Just realized the Stanford’s common data set for this year was released. It says only 8 people got off the waitlist, which seems like a very small number considering 5 of those people are either on this thread or are at least mentioned on here. Is the number inaccurate? Also, does the common data set get updated since it has yet to account for summer melt and the uncertainties of gap years due to COVID? 8 is a very small number of wiliest admits when compared to last year (I think it was around 30).
@hockey731 that is from last year, it says “for fall 2019”
I saw that too, but the cover page says 19-20. Last years CDS would have been 18-19. Is the CDS released with a year lag to the class it’s referencing (19-20 CDS with 2023)?
19-20 is the class of 23
