@quackers333 what majors were these people?
I swear if we have to wait till May 29 to hear back…
Also @jasmioh, are you full pay? If you’re comfortable sharing.
@JakeW123 I haven’t seen my financial aid package yet but I am most definitely not full pay.
Congrats @jasmioh !
Could you please share your stats (would be both beneficial for us and future prospective undergraduates)
What do you guys think they mean by stages? Like they’re taking ppl off by major and by region, or just normal overall waves?
@JakeW123 maybe whoever doesn’t accept their waitlist from the first wave, it will be offered in the second wave? But the more I think about to go to the waitlist in stages can mean something different too… maybe it could be geographically? If I’m going to be quite honest, my counselor emailed the admission officer without saying my name yet the admission officer knew it was me that my counselor was referring too…
We also are kind of at a disadvantage because Stanford hasn’t specifically set a deadline for requesting gap years. A lot of people planning to take a gap year might declare after Stanford is completely done using the waitlist.
@jakew123 One is definitely engineering, the other also STEM.
@RichardWright1 I apologize if the formatting is a little off. My school is fairly small and in an area w/ a rather low socioeconomic area so they didn’t offer any AP classes other than the ones I listed below just for reference. I got all A’s and 1 B throughout my four years of high school. I am first gen too if that information helps.
SAT score: 1490
AP Scores:
Lang - 4
Calc AB: 4
Biology: 3
US History: 3
Psychology: 5
I took AP Lit this year.
Awards and Extracurriculars: I don’t have any major awards other than the National Hispanic Scholar award. I started an Ocean Conservation Club at my school, tutored students at my local middle school, participated in Cross Country for 4 years, and helped fundraise for a club my friend started which sends feminine products to girls in need in developing countries. I also worked at the San Francisco Exploratorium for a year.
hmm so it seems like the 3 ppl taken off so far are stem.
Thanks @jasmioh ! Congratulations once again and I wish you the best of luck at Stanford
@quakers333 where the two people in state or OOS?
Congratulations @jasmioh !!! You mention that you worked at the Exploratorium. Do you live close enough to commute to Stanford if necessary?
@lkg4answers If I had a death wish maybe ?? I live in the East Bay around 65 miles from campus so it wouldn’t be fun by any means so I probably wouldn’t want to commute. I’m still hoping that dorms will be open for the fall semester but if worse comes to worse I don’t mind attending online classes from home.
So, first wave passed. Any reject?
From what I’ve seen I think that rejections are posted on the portal a few days after the first wave
does anyone remember when the second wave might be out (in terms of time after the first?)
Last year, they sent out updates 4 days after the first wave with either a rejection or a place on an extended waitlist. From what I can tell, no one got in from the extended waitlist and were notified sometime in early June. Things are so different this year so idk
I mostly just lurk on cc, but I’m writing this because I also got off the Stanford waitlist last night
@cc87200256 Were you also stem?
