@losername I don’t think either school will be on campus in the fall tbh. You could just take a gap year if you are that opposed to doing online classes. I’m all for having options, but I’m also on the waitlist at Vandy. I believe double depositing is unethical, and there are better ways to handle this situation.
@losername Double depositing is not only not permitted but it’s extremely unethical. the likelihood of getting off the stanford is EXTREMELY low. There are people dying to get off the Berkeley and/or Vanderbilt waitlists and you’re sitting there securing a spot at both schools. Pick a school. It’s May 15th. move on from stanford, if you end up getting off the waitlist, great, but the odds are so low that at this point you must act like it’s not going to happen and choose a damn school! You’re waiting too long and it’s so unethical and unfair. A waitlist is not a sure thing, you’re not supposed to alter your college decision based off the thought that you might get off a waitlist. put ONE deposit down at ONE school, fall in love with it, know that you are likely going to that school next year and if Stanford calls, then you go there, but you’re relying on a very small acceptance rate right now and it’s unfair to other waitlisted people at your deposited schools.
Double depositing is obnoxious, entitled and disrespectful to not only the process, but your peers.
Wow DrS. I just got off the UCB waitlist and put the deposit down yesterday and wanted to give myself some time to talk with friends and relatives to make a difficult decision. In most years I agree it would be unacceptable to double deposit but wouldn’t you agree this year is a bit abnormal? Wherever you end up I hope they have an anger management class.
I’m amazed that people have the luxury to DOUBLE deposit rn. I didn’t even have the money for ONE deposit and had to waive it. We all are very uncertain about school in the fall and being waitlisted at Stanford, which is most if not all of our dream school, doesn’t make it any easier. I would suggest that you talk to your family/counselor and make a decision. The way that you feel about Stanford is the way that hundreds of students feel about Vandy and Berkley.
And @losername you make sure you take Ethics and morality classes although it maybe too late for you
Hi! Just wanted to give people an update but I just received notification that I was accepted off the waitlist for the Stanford Class of 2024! If you guys want more information/stats etc. I’d be happy to help out!
@losername Everyone is going through the same things you are and they are capable of putting one deposit down at a school. you’re not the only person living through this pandemic
you are capable of making a decision of where to go to school without putting down two deposits. wherever you end up I hope they have a ethics course for you to take.
@jasmioh how were you notified, and what major were you? Also what time were you notified? Thanks
Congrats @jasmioh !!! Seems like the first wave it out
@JakeW123 I received the email notification at 4:20 PM (PST) and but I didn’t see the email until around 5PM. I’m assuming the decisions went out around 4PM then. The major I applied for was Human Biology.
@2024results Thank you!!
Thanks for the info! @others Do we think there are gonna be more waves?
It seems like there is usually a group that it’s waitlisted until the summer but I’ve never seen anyone get in from that group. Everything changed this year so the chances of a real second wave seem higher. So hopefully
congrats @jasmioh !
also praying that the stages don’t mean another 2 week wait, hoping for good news for the rest of us (or at least closure)
I know two people who just got accepted off of the waitlist for Stanford at 4:20pm today (15th May).
@jasmioh By any chance did they tell you the deadline to accept? I’m assuming everyone will either be accepted, rejected, or put on an extended waitlist by then
bumping that question as well^^^ gahhhhHHHHHH this process is KILLLING me
@2024results The deadline they gave me is May 29
