Stanford Waitlist Class of 2024

when did she contact them?

She didn’t say anything else lol, she replied like yesterday!

@huizihannie thanks for the information. Sorry to bombard you with questions; we are a neurotic, analytical bunch.

Ah man, absolutely not! We are all together in this crazy long waiting period…

They still might release today. It’s not like they’ve set a precedent for releasing waitlist results at 4 pm PT or anything.

don’t they always release decision at 4pm PT time?

does that apply to waitlists though?

If the first wave doesn’t come out this week, is it safe to say that Stanford is experiencing high yield and are just keeping the waitlist open because of COVID uncertainty?

Too much uncertainty, hard to guess, but I believe they will still use the waitlists no matter what

Maybe something to consider. These links point to the Provost discussing yield:

RIP we’re screwed

^ “achieved a very strong yield for the entering class.” But they usually have a high yield so I still think they will be using the waitlist. Honestly, we’re out of guesses so all we can do is wait and see what happens

I agree with @2024results . It seems that we’re still in the clear, considering that peer institutions like Dartmouth and Yale have already sent letters stating that they’ve closed their waitlists for now. And if what Harvard does gives any indication to what Stanford may do, according to the equivalent Harvard thread, an AO stated that Harvard is likely to release between mid and late May. Things are just different this year than other years which is affecting the timing of decisions.

Any updates? :frowning:

I was in contact with an admission officer and this is what they said: “it is likely that we will go to our waitlist in stages. I cannot give you any more details than that…”

Maybe it’ll be released in a bunch of little waves. Let’s call them ripples ?

The uncertainty and waiting is insufferable. I’ve got deposits in at Vanderbilt and Berkeley while hoping to hear from Stanford. How are we supposed to plan? I don’t feel good about stringing them along (and taking up someone else’s WL slot) but I feel like I need to keep my options open. And this water-drip torture could go on until August?

I am thinking that they have to at least send out the first wave before June 1. I am even hopeful that today we may hear something.

@losername Did you double deposit at Vanderbilt and UCB?

Yeah … didn’t feel good to double deposit but I want to be on campus this fall and doubt that will be the case at Berkeley … highly possible same situation at Vandy but better chance. On the other hand, UCB is close to home. Having options is worth the extra deposit. I just feel bad for WListers at UCB who are praying for admit melt.
