I just got in as well! I’d love to connect with anyone else accepted today, it’s a big decision so late in the game! I received the email around 4:30PM PST
Congrat!
Got in today as well! There is a freshman town hall tomorrow night at 8 pm.
@lkg4answers oh really? where can we attend that?
@cheddarthedog when you log on, just under “Congratulations” there is a link to “admitted student website.” Scroll down and there is a link to “2020-21 Academic Year Information.” At the top is a link to the town halls. Let me know if you can’t find it.
found it! thank you, i will attend to get more info
Is anyone able to put down a deposit? The option isn’t there for me rn
@Lilscholarj89 haven’t tried yet but will let you know if i get to that step lol
@cheddarthedog it looks like the Town Hall is at 8 AM not PM. Sorry for the mistake.
I just got into Stanford! Though I committed to Amherst College, I am definitely switching and would love to come in contact with any other students attending!
I just got in too and would love to get in contact with any other students attending! Does anyone know how we apply for housing or enroll in classes? Will classes already be full considering how late it is?
Congrats to all who just got admitted! I’m a Stanford mom of a rising Sophomore, and choosing Stanford was the best decision my daughter ever made—she absolutely loves it!! I can try to answer some of the questions. No one has chosen any classes yet. They scrapped the old schedule due to Covid, and everyone is starting fresh for course selection, so you don’t have to worry that classes are already full. The new course schedule comes out mid August, and I think the Day course selection opens is Sept 1st. The course schedule will also show what is plannned to be offered for Winter and Spring Quarters as well, so you can build your schedule with a pretty good guess as to what will be available (or not) for the upcoming quarters. No one has gotten their housing assignments yet for Fall Quarter—again, COVID. Housing apps for upper classmen approved to be on campus for fall close on Friday, then assignments will come out. Frosh don’t choose housing—the university assigns you based on a long survey they have you fill out. Usually Frosh find which dorm you are assigned to about a month prior to move in. Usually Frosh have roommates, but with the campus being de-densified for fall, I’m not sure if Frosh will be in singles or two room doubles—sorry, I haven’t paid much attention to the plans for Frosh housing. If you have a roommate for fall, the Stanford tradition is that you will find out the roommate when you arrive in your assigned dorm room at checkin. Stanford does an amazing job of matching roommates—my daughter and her frosh roommate were instantly terrific friends. Let me know if you have more questions. I’m not an expert, but I would love to help you if I can.
@Outlander Thanks for posting and offering to answer questions. I know that tuition was not reduced this year. Do you know if other fees were? It looks like student contribution from summer earnings and standard school year work expectation were reduced and that Stanford scholarship funds were increased to compensate. I would expect that those Stanford scholarship funds will go away when students can start working again. Do you know how much what a normal school year work expectation is?
Congrats to those that just got admitted. I second outlander! My daughter is class of 2024 and haven’t registered for classes nor heard anything about housing (only to say that they will stay in single housing/room. All we know is that school is supposed to start on 9/14. Nothing about frosh move in date/orientation but tentatively will be on campus in fall quarter. Rumor circulating around is that there is a possibility of moving frosh to winter and no one is allowed to be on campus in the fall due to Covid. We all should know by mid August.
@Outlander @Luvbadgers Thank you so much!! This was so helpful!
We also have not received a bill (Tuition, room/board, fees) yet, either. I guess Stanford is still trying to figure things out.
@RM2024 Congratulations. Did you get a call or was it through the portal?
Do the waitlisted people who were recently accepted get the Stanford paraphernalia in the mail?
I have not gotten anything in the mail
edit: i don’t know if we get anything…i think we do?
@Luvbadgers thanks for the responses, do you know if we decide to stay at home if our financial aid is affected? like do we still get the same amount -the 17k for room and board
