^ they used it well in the past; why would a situation like corona make them not go to it? @EarlNightingale
This might be information that isn’t useful, but on April 30 my region AO responded via Email to a question I had. In the end of the email she said, “You should be notified if we go to the waitlist.” I haven’t been notified and I’m assuming none of you have either. I’m feeling like more students committed than expected. Losing hope right about now ):
Maybe she meant you’ll be notified if you’re taken off? Also yeah if they actually rejected people before the enrollment deadline that might be bad.
I wonder if having to make decisions via Zoom has made the process slower?
someone just call them, and ask if they’re using waitlist.
I think if they weren’t using their waitlist they would’ve released something saying that their class was full or that they weren’t using the waitlist. From what I’ve seen in older threads, Stanford usually doesn’t send out anything at all until about the second week of May where they either accept, reject, or put students on an extended waitlist.
I’ve also heard that this is being said by AOs this year. “If we go to the waitlist.” Which makes me think it’s either looking dim, or possibly they’re being told to be confidential regarding whether they’ll look to it or not.
It’s also possible they just aren’t sure yet and maybe the AOs aren’t the same as the waitlist committee and just don’t know.
Because COVID just means there’s more uncertainty. They could’ve estimated that more people would go to Stanford, or they could have estimated that less would. Some prestigious colleges are taking more off of the waitlist and others are taking few off compared to other years. We don’t know how Stanford reacted to this thing, and we don’t know if it’ll be like the period in the past where they had something like three years in a row where 0 got off.
I’m trying to remain hopeful just as we all are, though. I just don’t know if we have enough information to even believe that we might have a better shot this year than other years.
As for whether calling their office would give us more information, it might. Someone here could give it a shot.
Whoever calls doesn’t even have to give their name or can even have a counselor call on their behalf
Transfer decisions are coming out today
Keep in mind if accepted to Stanford most would say yes hoping things will get better by the fall. At the top schools the summer melt will be slow as students and parents try to hold on as long as they can
Do you all believe that we will get our decisions today or Monday?
It usually takes them 6 to 7 business days after May 1st, so I’m guessing Monday. But hopefully today
May 14th.
May 14th based on a hunch, or do you have any actual information from the Admissions Office?
It usually is the second Thursday of May ?
I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes out tomorrow tbh
Transfer decision date + 1 = May 14. Thursday.
@SingleDadTwoTeen The transfer decision date is today though…
lol yea transfer results got released today, so maybe our day is monday or tuesday (hopefully) unless they release on a weekend which is wonky
