I noticed Stanford does not want any portfolios, research papers etc…unless it is the required one associated with a major in arts. So I was wondering if Stanford would check out my websites and businesses; I’m an entrepreneur. Thanks in advance.

You could mention this in your EC description, your EC list, or the Additional Information portion of the CommonApp, and then they would be able to look at those items if they feel that it would be appropriate to do so. Standford prides itself on Entrepreneurialism, so they might give it a look if your stats are good. You could work it into your essays or supplement answers, too.

The best way to get the answer would be to contact the Admissions Office, after scouring their released information (FAQs, Application details, etc) to see if they’ve already answered it.

So if my stats aren’t good they wont look at it? because I’m relying heavily on my extracurricular activities and essays because my grades aren’t stellar. But I do have a feeling everything will work out, the worst thing is getting too attached to an ideal, “I’m going to get accepted!” Only to be totally wrong…

“I’m relying heavily on my extracurricular activities and essays because my grades aren’t stellar” Unless you’re national level or uber successful, your ECs and essays won’t make up for less than top grades. Stanford’s admission pool is huge and their slots are limited. I’ll bet they decline ~ 85% of 4.0GPA applicants if not more. And it’s highly unlikely they will look at any hyperlinks.

You may want to post further Stanford questions here

So Do I even have a chance without a 4.0, I messed up freshman year really bad, but on the stanford website, focus will be put on 10,11, and 12 grades. So would they possibly recalculate my gpa? because that would bring my gpa pretty darn close to a 4.0

The reality is that any school that takes 6% of applicants wants it all: great grades/rank, top scores, great ECs.

To answer your question, yes, a committee member may have a look at your web site if they are strongly interested in you. But they in general give about 10 minutes to the average application, so most web sites won’t be looked at.

They’re only going to look at it if they are trying to choose between you and another applicant. If your overall grades (including freshman year) aren’t up to par with most of the others applying, they’re not going to have a hard choice in the first place.

Try to make it really tempting to look at the site when mentioning it in your essays.

It’s a myth that schools literally compare one student’s entire application to another’s to decide which of the two will be the one to get in.

But yes, generally if you want to get into one of those top schools, you’ve got to have the “full package.”

No two GOOD applicants at really good schools are exactly the same. If people are truly identical then they must be super boring.

Does Stanford at least look at all the applications? or would they throw one out because of ones grades and not pay it much attention, because when I look at the stats about 3 percent of the undergrads admitted had surprisingly low scores. (34,000 * .06)*.03 = 61 thats qiute a bit

“And it’s highly unlikely they will look at any hyperlinks.”

I would have to agree.

Yea truth be told… i didn’t put any i just want to know if they will actually look at my application

Also my businesses aren’t really public, in a way it handles research and product development and every project i feel is potentially world changing. Now i have websites i plan to put up but things are aren’t going as planned and i also am part of an another start up relaunching hopefully mid december, nothing major, but still novel. Aslo the website i feel are solutions to existing problems, so when i say businesses i dont mean selling T-shirts. idk entrepreneurship is something I felling strong about, its that and taking my share of this world and changing it too.

the low test scores are probably from the football team

Thanks for the hope. I truly believe if I had the grades I’d be in for sure. Yea, I know its Stanford, but that’s how confident I would be, note “would be”. One thing is for sure I was 100 percent passionate about what I put in that application, hopefully, as in rare occasions, it is enough to win them over. All i want is to surround my self by people with the same level of aspirations, because now people look at me crazy, begging me to wake up.- i should have said this in my application
