Staples computer vs Penn State computer store?

Not interested in an apple computer:

Are there any advantages/disadvantages to getting a computer directly from the computer store at PSU?

Is the price better? If you order one from PSU store do they have it set up in your room?

Ordering from PSU store means that you don’t get to “play with and familiarize yourself” with your computer til move-in day.

Does IT at PSU UP campus take care of and help with any problems on any computer - even those bought at Staples?

Do you recommend any particular type of computer (Communications Science Disorders is major interested in).

Even better than staples: [Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!](http://www.newegg.com), [ZipZoomFly, or Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more](http://www.zipzoomfly.com)

Rescom, which has offices located in each of the residence area commons, will help with problems on any computers regardless of whether you bought the computer through PSU

I’d recommend a Mac, or if you’re dead-set on PC, a Lenovo

Why a lenovo?

I don’t know any specific reasons, but my son who is a math grad student also bought a lenovo. We are a Mac family but now that he’s on his own he wanted something less expensive. I’m sure he did a lot of research before he decided.

Well if you are really looking for the lowest price, I would shop around on Newegg, amazon, etc. (They seem to have better prices than in store). I believe many of the major computer brands have student discounts also (Dell, HP, etc.) Between - staples and PSU computer store I would call it a draw. It all depends on the machine.

As for your major, any normal computer should work.
