Star Trek movie cameos

So, after seeing Star Trek last night (loved it!) and realizing that there were many unidentified cameos in the movie, I looked online and was shocked to find out that Randy Pausch (“The Last Lecture”) was actually in the beginning of the movie in a cameo appearance…obviously taped before his death last July…

Did anybody notice this while watching? He was apparently part of the crew of the USS Kelvin (Kirk’s Dad’s ship in the beginning of the movie)…

Other cameos:

Akiva Goldsman: director and producer
Greg Grunberg (voice only)

I meant to look for Randy Pausch, but had already missed him by the time I remembered. I didn’t like the movie well enough to be seeing it any time again soon.

Darn–we just went this afternoon and I wish I had known to look for him.

Our teens liked it very much, even though they didn’t get the references to the original series. My husband and I thought it was pretty good too.

Here’s the NYT article about it. [‘Star Trek’s’ Familiar Face - Well Blog - NYTimes.com]('Star Trek's' Familiar Face - The New York Times)

I knew to look for him and still almost missed him. He rushes past the captain as he gives his line. I’m glad he got the opportunity even if we can barely catch him!

Just saw the movie today and loved it. I didn’t know he was in it or I would have looked for him. I was never a huge Trekie but this movie might turn me into one. Very well cast.

I think I remember the line.

Tyler Perry was the commandant of the Starfleet Academy I think or at least the guy in charge of the academic probation hearing and medal awarding at the end.
