Started online course but didn't finish?

I started the online computer science course CS50 earlier in the summer, but I have been slacking on it and I doubt that I’d be finished by the time I’m filling out college apps. I know having an incomplete course on my application will definitely not bring as much benefit as a completed one, but will it still be taken as seriously? Will they disregard it if I didn’t complete the course? Thank you.

It will not be considered.

If it shows on your app, they can wonder why you didn’t compete it. In general, you don’t want to leave adcoms wondering about something like this. Not if it matters to your possible major and when they want kids who finish within usual time frames. Think about it.

Most MOOCs (which is what CS50 is) don’t matter to college admissions officers. I would say leave it off- it wouldn’t be the thing that gets you into college, but if they see an incomplete course they might wonder about your dedication to your work, etc.

What are some credible websites that colleges recognize and consider? This is the first year where I have not enrolled in summer school, so I have a load of free time.

If you have a load of free time, it would be better to finish the unfinished class rather than starting a new one that you may or may not complete.

Or get a job, another good EC.

You could work on your applications.
