i started with a 23 the first time i took this test. the 2nd time i got a 26 followed a 29 and now a 33. I understand high scores are important however I want to know what is more important: the score itself or how i got it. I feel both are great accomplishments but i don’t want to leave an impression that i’m a grind not all that smart.

with the ACT you only have to submit one score unlike the SAT… aka only submit your 33.

Congrats on your great increase!!!

What books did you use?

So yeah, just send the best score. Looks good!

just practice, everything I have done is based probability and technicality. understand how they score and why they do so. Don’t assume, deduce. Also, learn importantly work efficiently since time limited.

you have no worries…score choice!!!

Yea, you should just be really grateful. take the score and run.

they send a sticker to your school, which is put on your transcript.
The schools you apply to will almost indefinitely see all the scores.

You could ask your school to remove it. They owuld have to otherwise you could sue. My school doesnt even put the scores on our transcript.

You can help me do the same thing.

there was no “sticker” on my transcript. the only scores my school got are the ones I sent them…

My kids’ schools offer the option to send a “test card” listing all SATs, ACTs, etc. with the transcript. (Check with your Guidance/Registrar’s Office to see how they do it.) In your situation, I’d ask not to send the test card and send your 33 directly from ACT.

Most colleges want official score reports anyway, so rather than risking Guidance messing up reporting the scores, we’ll just have the score reports sent directly to the schools. I don’t know if our Guidance staff writes in the scores by hand, types them into their system, or if they get a data file/labels with scores directly from CB/ACT, but I don’t want any errors.

Congrats on pulling up your score!

With such a substantial increase I don’t think you’d be viewed as a grind in any case. It is reasonable to persist when you see such dramatic results. I think the only instance in which you’d be viewed as a grind was if you had scores that were very close (30, 31, 32, 33) and kept persisting.

I think you have no worried. And of course, you want adcoms to see the 33. Congratulations!

you give me hope!

You Rock Man! You Give Me Hope!!!

ONLY SUBMIT THE 33!!! It’s a great story to share with CCers worried that their ACT score won’t improve, but don’t give the admit depts the path you took – it could be a good idea but I think it’s more likely to be detrimental! When you order from ACT make SURE you order the correct test date!!! Congrats and good luck with the admissions process! (BTW I’m sure your tenacity will show in your application in other ways, e.g. in a teachers’ recommendation.)

My school gets the stickers (I saw them the other day), but only reports what I ask them to.

PLEASE TELL US; HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT? Did you take the ACT in your senior year or something?
