Hi, the youth of my community have been overwhelmed by an absurd murder rate this year, and I am starting an anti-violence movement in the county. I was granted $5,000 through the Pepsi Refresh Project to hold a benefit concert featuring local artists and a national speaker to launch the initiative. You can check it out at [Hold an anti-violence motivational concert to refresh my community | Pepsi Refresh Everything](<a href=“Refresh Everything”>Refresh Everything). At the concert will be a sign up for the county-wide anti-violence club that I’m starting. I’m doing this on my own with no official advisers, but I think it could really be a great thing. I’m also raising money at the concert to start a scholarship fund for students who demonstrate experience in overcoming extreme adversity. I’d really like some suggestions for club activities, strategies to keep in mind when maintaining a new club, and ideas to increase interest in the club. It will be the first of its kind in the area, and students usually don’t start clubs without the help of an adviser, so I’m rather nervous. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Also, if you have any suggestions for what to name the club, that’d be fantastic. The theme for the concert will be “Silence the Violence”.

I think in the end you really want to have an adult involve.
If you are talking about a school club, it should have an adult to supervise the club.

When you begin to raise money, and anything that has to do with money, you need an adult.

Your idea is fantastic and really cool. I would start it in school. Start small, and maybe one day you and future officers can push it outside, and grow the idea bigger, and eventually becomes a national initiative?

I would call it an initiative, rather than a club.

I don’t have a club name / name for initiative. I would just stick with whatever sounds best for you. Keep it concise and comprehensive.

I am serious about getting an adult involve.

Thanks! We’re going to have an adviser there for the meetings and for all the “official” aspects that I’m legally not allowed to handle, but basically all the work (promotion, scheduling, fundraising, etc.) will be coordinated by me.
