If I wanted to start a service program like for example, tutoring inner-city children in places where many kids end up with not-so-bright futures or bringing technology to those schools, what steps should I take to start it?

1) Get people to help you start it. Starting a meaningful club is a lot of work and really hard to do alone. Plus, your friends will make organizing and planning stuff a lot more fun.

2) Get ideas from them.

Ok, excellent. Another question: Would it be better to start this in a form of a club? I kind was thinking about starting it as a community service project/program…

The advantage of starting it as a club is

(a) you’ll have a place to meet (school)
(b) easier to recruit new members (your classmates)
(c) easier to find adult mentors to help “advise” the club

Good luck and have fun! If you’re determined you can accomplish a lot :)

Darnit, too bad we can’t start clubs anymore at this point in the year. Thanks though! :)
