My super obsessive friend would like to ask how horrible it is to start ECs in 10th Grade. All of her ECs, even the ones she are extremely passionate about, she started in 10th Grade.

And she has no leadership positions in any of the two clubs and 1 varsity sport she plays.

1 out of school EC she does, she started when she was a rising 10th grader. So that would still count as 10th Grade right?

Oh my. It’s fine. So, so fine.

She should be worried about her lack of leadership–has she had a significant role in the club even without a label?

I started two of my major ECs in 10th grade. However, I was president of one and co vice president of the other. It’s the leadership that is going to hurt her.

If she’s really worried about leadership, and she feels she has a passion that no club in her school currently offers, then she can even start her own club. That would give her the opportunity to introduce something new to her school community and to have a leadership position.

Like others said, I’m sure it’s absolutely fine to join an activity in 10th grade.
