The Target deal is nationwide, but to price match with Micro Center you have to have a Micro Center in your area. You also have to have the sale paper from Micro Center with you when you go to Target. I picked up a few when I went to Micro Center to have.

I was thinking about getting a refurbished 2 for $419 but as I would use it for reading and ipad3 is coming out feb/march with significantly better resolution I have decided to wait.

I’m getting an iPod nano watch instead for my Christmas toy.

I succumbed to ipad envy on Black Friday Also took advantage of the 12 month interest free finance so I got the larger size and 3G for my business use. Still learning how to find and use apps I want so I will probably go to the classes that are held at the Apple store here.

Can’t imaine not having the 3G. Getting online anywhere is one of the key features I love it for. If you travel you never have to pay the airport or hotel wifi fees. I whip out my ipad while DH complains about the highway robbery.

You can get directions anywhere if you’re as blind as I am and the smart phone screens are just too small. Love it when my wifi goes down t home. I use it in the car often (not when I’m driving of course). I just tuck it in my bag and have access everywhere. The 3 is supposed to be lighter, can’t wait to see it.

I also like that there’s no contract. When you leave the country or otherwise aren’t using the 3G, you can just turn the plan off.

I do not even have a cell on me, it stays in my car. I love to be disconnected as much as possible. No envy here, we have an electronic store in our house, for sure, I would be glad to get rid of 90% of stuff.

Actually, I believe the iPad3 is suppose to be thicker and heavier. They are suppose to be putting a better screen on it. At least that was the rumor I read.

I have 3G and love it. The AT&T lowest plan is $15 a month and I’ve never gone over the data limits. Plus you can turn the service off and on at will.

I recently upgraded to the latest iOS and got a ‘cloud’ account. It was a little bit of a pain to convert over. You have to set up a new apple user name that is an email address. It took me some research to figure it out but all my itunes stuff did convert over and I didn’t lose anything.

I rarely take mine into meetings. It’s sort of funny to see all these people with a iPads propped up in front of them. Personally, I think it is a status thing. Occasionally, someone will use it to take notes but for the most part they’re either reading their email or surfing the net. I find it kinda of rude. Same thing for all those people who are playing with their smartphones the entire meeting. What’s the point in being there if you are only half paying attention?

Waverly, my daughter wants the 3G for when she is out of the country as she travels 1-2 weeks a month. She said the 3G will be great for the trains. I think she will only pay for the 3G service when she is traveling, as when she is home she can use her wifi.

I do like that you are not stuck paying for the 3G service each months, only when you want to use it.

Per local radio ads, Freddie’s having an iPad sale - $50 off, starting at $449.

I didn’t get the 3G because I have an iPhone. When I can’t get wireless, I just use the 3G on the iPhone. If money were no object, I would want the 3G.

I really like the Cloud for sharing pictures between my iPhone and the iPad. I take a lot of pictures with the iPhone, and they go to the iPad via Cloud so they are bigger and I can show them to people.

Can Ipads get viruses??? If so, do computer shops work on them like computers?

I am very happy with my Nook Color + 32 G memory card. Will do almost everything iPad does. My phone has a camera so I don’t care about that and it was half the price. I will not have an i-anything. It’s just not worth the money IMHO. S2 talked us into replacing his ancient laptop with a MacBook Pro. He is thrilled and tried to sell me when we visited last week. I just can’t see it. He didn’t even get the top of the line model and it was $2500. My very powerful laptop was less than half that.

^^not true, my DW is ready to trade her Nook color for an Ipad…there is a significant differnce between the two

And having purchased many non-Apple products, laptops, desktops etci would NEVER buy a product except Apple…Apple is worth the money…i can’t wait to get a Mac laptop…Dell products stink,BIGTIME

I have a “I” with 3G and keep it with me constantly. I “needed” the 3 G because I’m in transit while using it, so couldn’t rely on wifi. It does frustrate at times, and if I were buying today, I’d try the Verizon version, even tho I’d end up paying a bit more in monthly fees. My latest fun use is to look up a recipe and use it as a cook book. I’ll also watch Netflix on it, but that doesn’t work very well outside the house. I’ve been disappointed in e-books from the library, selection is very limited. Haven’t bought any books for it, saving that for the post tuition years.

I bought it to compensate for my crushingly long commute and it has helped. My cellphone is so low tech it might as well be rotary dial. I’ll replace it only when the battery dies and will take whatever is free. I pay less for the ATT iPad data than I would for a smart phone.

If you have a smart phone, you probably don’t need an iPad. I have a touch of “2” envy - would be nice to have a camera.

I did a ton of research on using the 3G when traveling internationally. Two things:

-Get the AT&T version as Verizon’s CDMA system only works in N. America and a few Carribean Islands.

-You have to buy ‘time’ on Sim cards when in a foreign country otherwise you will be hit with extreme roaming charges. You can’t just use your 3G account the way you can in the US. Heard it can be a little challenging to get those cards (frequently you have to buy a shop in whatever country you are in) and to use them but not insurmountable.

iPad 3g in Europe - Apple Community;

Thanks MomLive, I did buy the AT&T as we are very familiar with using sim cards in Europe. My daughter’s company pays for her international use of her phone, so I am guessing they will also pay for her sim cards; aren’t expense accounts wonderful She uses her own AT&T sim from home while traveling as her clients have her cell number. It would be too confusing to them if she was constantly changing her number for each country.

If you wait for a justification to buy one, you will wait forever and a day. Just get one and get it out of your system. You will find out soon enough that there are no justification to buy an iPad for … work purposes. Its best feature is that it is an amazing tool to help people pass (and waste) time.

As a productivity tool, it simply sucks. I have had the original since it came out, and I have yet to find any “business” use for the darn thing. And, believe me that I would love to find one!

This is not meant to be an offensive question.

Have you developed a way to keep your pictures organized? One of the reasons I purchased the iPad was to display several hundred pictures of various project files. This never worked as keeping different levels of files was impossible. Another limitation is that the pictures miss properties that would allow them to be organized easily. And finally, annotating pictures and reorganizing them never worked well for more than an occasional and trivial use.

PS Using iPhoto was never an option.

Ironically I started a thread about iPads a few weeks ago, and now I am writing this on my ipad2 3G. They are great.

I didn’t thick I needed one, and I didn’t, but I like t a lot.

Our school gave everyone an iPad. You know all those commercials about it - the “getting lost in what you love” and “the way you do it will never be the same”? All true. I love my iPad, and with it, I can learn anything at anytime…I am a step closer to being truly free.

“I didn’t thick I needed one, and I didn’t, but I like t a lot.”

For some reason, most of the posts I type on the iPad end up looking like that. Funny spelling, missing letters, and strange punctuation. :)
