statement of purpose

hey guys, I am planning to apply to colleges in Europe for 2015 fall semester. Im pretty nervous about my statement of purpose so it would be of great help if I could get some feedback. thanks :)

The environment should never be taken for granted. This is one very important lesson that I was taught while I spent my childhood on an estate in Kodagu (formerly known as Coorg), Karnataka. The area in which I grew up was abundant in natural resources and it was eventual that I expressed my desire to study natural sciences. That pull that I feel towards making this world a safer and cleaner place stems from my upbringing. Not only did I study in schools that were very environment conscious, but my family have also inculcated this notion in me about being concerned for the environment. This is why I wish to study sustainability in the management of the environment and surroundings.
This enthusiasm continued to ripen as I moved to a boarding school in Ooty. Situated in one of the most beautiful valleys in South India, I was drawn into the subject more and more. I later enrolled in a pro-environment school in Bangalore called Prakriya Green Wisdom School. Situated in the outskirts, the school had a deep value to protect the environment and engraved in each student the concept of self-sustainability. The school had projects year round where the students helped building brick kilns, Eco-friendly toilets and our very own backyard garden. We often had classes held outdoors. At Prakriya I completed my tenth standard exam in which I scored a seventy five percent over all.
From school to college, the interest never waned in the environment as I took up a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Chemistry, Zoology and Environmental Science. The triple major allowed me to expand my horizons and explore other options in the subjects that I was studying. During my course I also participated in many seminars and fests spread out into various subjects. I was a part of the Natural Science Association, The French Association and also participated/volunteered in their respective fest. I was also volunteered at an organization called U&I. For eight months I taught at a poor girls home, Snehanilaya, after college hours.
One of the main highlights of my undergraduate studies was my final year thesis, “The Study of the utility potential of coffee waste vermicompost manure in the growth of tomato plants”. This project gave me hands on experience and made me realise that so much more can be done to reduce the negative effects of our daily activities. The time spent for that project was truly satisfying and brought out my managing and leadership skills.
After graduating with an overall percentage of seventy-one, I completed an internship with Environment Support Group (an NGO) that deals with environment and social justice issues in and around Karnataka. Here, I learned a lot about the current situation of waste management and the status of lakes in Bangalore. I also visited many projected affected farmers outside the city whose lives were uprooted due development projects. It was an extremely eye opening experience.
But my mind was still focused on pursuing further studies in the field of sustainability. I wanted to combine the reason for such terrible degradation of the environment, which I observed to be caused by big multi-national companies, and not only make them responsible for the damage they cause but also repair the damage using their resources. In this way, I realised that combining management of resources of these companies to help preserve the environment was a perfect career path.
In this field of work, I believe one needs to have good leadership skills and an interactive personality. The passion in caring for the environment while at the same time being objective about decisions is also required. In this dynamic world, I feel that one also needs to be able to adapt to any situation with ease. Eliminating tunnel vision allows a more broad perspective on the situation and can provide fresh ideas when none might be available. While I possess these qualities and others like good communication skills and a strong problem solving technique, I believe that I will gain more exposure and experience in doing what I am passionate about if I study abroad at ____________.

Ultimately, I want to ensure that every company, irrespective of industry, is not only held accountable for their actions that harm the environment but also contribute to its preservation and conservation.
