statement on research?

are you going to answer this question? I have no scientific research background, I’m applying for film, so I don’t really know what to write. I guess I could try to say that I have “independently studied” film by going on set and observing the pros? what do you guys think?

I’m applying for media and politics at comm. school. I want to study film, done it in hs (won largest student film festival in country), but i’m writing about that in a common app essay. For the research statement i’m writing about researching a specific bill when i interned in dc for congress.

Flynn, I would wager a guess that the question is asking for academic research, i.e. trying to prove a thesis, and not individual research into a profession, like visiting job sites.

should I just not answer it if I haven’t done any significant scientific research?

I’m not going to. I assume its optional - as in if you have done research, then you can submit a summary to give them a better idea of what you have done. We can’t all be expected to have cured cancer by age 18

Just my thoughts
