I am writing an essay on this topic for school, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to find statistics on the percentage of first-generation college students in last year's class at the Ivies, Stanford, and other elite schools? What percentages of such students applying were admitted? Also, where could I find what percentage of first-generation students score above 1400 on the SAT? Thanks!

i dont think such exists

Princeton has it on the back of their thing. Im SURE you can find it if u looked hard enough. P-ton : about 7% was first generation.

Thanks a lot!

You must remember at Princeton that will only be about 81-82 students out of 1166 which fall in that 1st generation category. (Quick facts)

Also, where could I find what percentage of first-generation students score above 1400 on the SAT?

That information may be extremely difficult to find becaue it is usually not given in those terms. If you check the common data set for the schools in question , you may get a snapshot of the admitted class as a whole in respects to what % of the admitted class had SATs over 1400

Princeton's can be found at

For Dartmouth- look in the office of institutional research

all others, go to their website - type in common data set in search

the most recent information is for academic year 2003/04

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot! 81-82 actually seems like quite a lot, so, this may hurt my research.
