hey guys,

I was thinking of applying to the program at Carnegie Mellon AP/EA. What were your stats (GPA, SAT, etc) to get into this program?

Bumppppppppp

I would recommend checking out this thread:

I can give you my stats, but I was accepted in off the waitlist, not outright. Just so you know.

Female, rising senior
Race: Asian (ORM, probably didn’t help)
GPA: unweighted = 4.0, school doesn’t weight
Class Rank: School doesn’t rank. It’s frustrating sometimes.

SAT: 2290 (Unbalanced though, 800CR, 800W, 690M)
PSAT: 229 (this was more balanced… 74CR, 80W, 75M)
SAT SUBJECT TESTS: Forgot to register… but will eventually take bio, ush, and math II. Not incredibly worried.

Junior year course rigor: My school is pretty lacking in APs and we have to waste a period everyday in a theology course. I took AP Bio, honors US History/English, and honors precalc this year.

ECs: Leadership positions in quite a few clubs that have been very successful in charity drives. Hi-Q (like quiz bowl). Some sports, awards for French and public speaking.

Volunteering: Major, especially part of my service club.

I think the major components of this application are the essays. I admittedly should have spent more time on them, though I was happy with the final result.
“Diversity” wise, Asians are ORM so that wasn’t a huge boon. My family also does not have financial need, so I think my diversity came from the fact that I’ve had to be a caretaker for an ailing parent.
