<p>At my school around 7 people applied to Cornell. 4 of us were ED (including myself), 1 got in ED and the other 3 got deferred. In addition, 3 other people applied. I was rejected, the salutatorian was waitlisted and three others got the GT option.</p>
<p>One of them makes sense to get that offer, one of them (who i personally dislike immensely & have animosity towards bc of other reasons) has a 29 ACT, sat 2’s in the 600’s and a class rank out of the top 10% and beneath me. I know you’re gonna say "maybe her essays or EC’s. . " etc but i do know this girl fairly well. Shes been in a few plays but thats basically it. She got the GT and it kills me bc I know she enjoys that I didn’t get it since I wanted to go to Cornell so badly.- she got the GT for CALS</p>
<p>Another one of the GT’s makes no sense either- she had a really low SAT for cornell. I mean she has awesome grades but still?- GT for HumEc</p>
<p>I applied to HumEc. I don’t think i would’ve necessarily transferred if I got the GT but I still am irked by these admissions results. therefore, if you got a GT- what were your stats bc this just doesn’t make sense!!</p>

highest SAT II scores: 790 and 660
gpa: 3.82 weighted, 3.5 unweighted</p>
<p>those might be pretty low but i think it was the extra curricular activities that really helped me. i had excellent essays, one of the best interviews according to the interviewer, excellent recommendations from my counselor, 2 school teachers and 1 teacher who taught hotel and tourism course outside of school. also i had an internship at the ritz carlton laguna niguel’s HR and was later hired. i have been officers for 2 club for 3 years. journalism for 2 years. had around 100 hours of community service. i also showed a lot of interest through emails and phone. good luck, and good night.</p>

Unwtd GPA: 3.6-3.7 range (‘supersized’ public in Houston, Texas)
NM Finalist, Nat’l Hispanic Scholar
National and State level awards for NHD and for competitive cheerleading, gob of District level academic awards, Varsity Letter cheerleading, yearbook editor, bunch of leadership and community service hours, great recommendations…her counselor and teachers love her.</p>
<p>Think she got the GT because her freshman year grades were a bit lackluster…mostly Bs. A little too much cheerleading, clubs and ecs and not enough academic focus that year. She is undecided about Cornell…she is accepted in the Honors Program at UNC-Chapel Hill. She goes back and forth, but honestly Carolina has always been her first choice and they have strong programs in her area of interest. Cornell is also wonderful, but she is trying not to let the Ivy factor sway her.</p>
