Stats not competitive enough for EA this fall?

I’m a junior right now and this year haven’t been the smoothest year academically speaking. I wanted to apply Early Action in the fall to Yale but after getting my all of my SAT results and my final GPA, i’m kind of worried my stats are no longer high enough for the EA pool.

SAT I-CR-800, M-700, W-630(ouch), combined 2130
SAT II-Bio M-720, US History -720 ( Plan to take Math IIC and French next year in Oct, should be close to 800)
GPA(out of 4.0 UW)
-3.59 UW, 3.65 W(9)
3.82 UW, 4.072 W (10)
3.76 UW, 4.03 W(11)
4.42 weighted GPA of entire high school career
Class rank unavaible right now, but should be in the top 20/450
I’ve taken the most strenous courses offered in the school but I know my GPA and SAT is on the low side.
My not as weak points i guess would be my club stuff, i’m very involved in animal rights and the environment and film production, but that didn’t really start to get noticable till my junior year.
here’s the list of my EC stuff.
Environmental Club-Founder, President(11,12)
Board of Education Student Representative (12)
Vegetarian Club-10,11 President, 12 President
College Level Film Production Class-11
Executive Producer of half hour TV show broadcasted on local TV about animal rights(11)
Broken Shells Literary Magazine-9,10,11 Managing editor, 12(editor in chief if all goes as planned)
Piano 9,10,11,12
FCCLA-11 Vice President,12 (President)
French Club-9,10,11,12
Field Hockey-9
Freshman Choir
Indoor Track-10
Drama Club-9, 10

Volunteer(the major stuff, not too much)
Environmental Conservation Work in Ecuador (Andes Mountain)-2 weeks (summer 2005)
Operation Hope~120 hours by end of summer (10,11,12)
Children’s Stepping Stone’s Museum-30 hours so far(10,11,12)

Nothing Special, and i kind of just seem like i’m stretched all over the place.
So anyways, it’s kind of obvious i’m not up to par with the average yale applicant so should I not apply EA and instead do regular decision when the applicant pool is less competitive? or would that just furthur reduce my chances?
Any constructive advice would be appreciated!!!

apply EA, see what happens. why not? they probably wont reject you early.

I only really got into my film extracurriculars the summer before my Junior year…it’s certianly not too late a start! Hope it works out…I’m hoping to find some other film people there next year!

Hey Barski, that’s great! are you a rising senior or have you been accepted to Yale already??
anyways, one of the first things that attracted me to Yale was their whole drama/film school. but now the whole SAT drama is messing me up.

I’ve been accepted…and I hope everything works out for you as well. I’m a bit put down about the film program, however, as another thread is talking about how dismal the undergrad film experience is. I’m pretty sure I’m going to double major in Film and American Studies or English…we’ll see.

Hey barski, don’t feel put down. Even if Yale isn’t that well known for film, its still Yale and you’ll be surronded by the amazing people. Enjoy!
