Stats of those accepted to Schreyer Honors College

Could people that were accepted to Schreyer Honors College list their stats? (GPA, SAT scores, Extra-Curriculars, leadership positions, etc.)

From past years, you mean? (I’m assuming so, since I don’t think this year’s decisions are out yet.)

I’m a current sophomore who graduated high school in 2014.

GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.5 W
SAT: 2330 (2350 superscore)
Rank: ~6/330
APs: Lang (5), Lit (5), Chem (5), USH (5), World (4)
Dual enrollment: Calc 1 and Stats through Pitt, Spanish 4 through LaRoche
Notable awards: student of the month once, national gold medal in Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, various regional prizes in the same
ECs: started creative writing club that meets to workshop and holds open mics; brass captain, section leader, and soloist (different years) in marching band; academic quiz team; pasta bridge competition senior year; lector for church

I didn’t spend a whole bunch of time revising my essays, but I put thought into them and liked my topics.

The other two people accepted from my school that year were the co-salutatorian and someone who was in the top 20 or something. They both did a lot of community service. I didn’t really.

Do you know any others who have had lower gpas? My gpa isn’t that high, around a 4.05 weighted. but I do have a lot of extra-Curriculars, leadership positions, and rewards through my church and school.

Check out the most recent report for data on GPAs. The 25th percentile is 4.00 (on what scale, who knows) so 4.08 falls within there, albeit on the low end.

My daughter applied for honors and is also waiting on decision. She was accepted in the college of engineering . Do you know anything about PSU Millennium Scholar Program ? Would it be too overwhelming to be in honors and millennium ? A lot of work ?

VC2016, what’re her stats? And I don’t think millennium will be an overload, since millennium’s largest significance lies during the summer when school isn’t in session.

I go to a competitive private high school. The average gpa of those accepted to Psu up is roughly 4.2 but the average of those accepted to Schreyer is 4.8.

On what scale?

@aerokid1701 it’s a 6.0 scale but my school uses a weird grading system. I just did that to put it into perspective that the average gpa is much higher for those in Schreyer than regular

aerokid1701, her gpa uw= 3.88, w=5.2, sat=1900, rank 4/406. I heard Millennium has some mandatory/required activities. Do you know anything about that ?

@VC2016, yeah, she will be required to be involved in a certain number of hours pertaining to research. I don’t know how many, but the research opportunity will put her at a huge advantage when she’s looking for an internship or a job.
