Does anyone know what’s going on with Knox Village? My son needs an apartment for fall, and it would be great if that project was done, but I can’t find anything recent on the development.
You have to look it up under its new name “Terrapin Row”. …won’t be ready until the following year…

Terrapin Row, scheduled to open in summer of 2016, will be a transformational mixed-use student housing project abutting the University of Maryland’s historic South Campus. The project’s site, known as the Knox Box apartments, is a complex of 25 two-story duplex structures which until recently had multiple owners.

You are so good. Thanks. Next stop… Trying to figure out how much they cost to rent.
Wow… They are not cheap, and many of the units are sold out. Whatever happened to living salad years while in college??
Mommy and Daddy?
Yeah, exactly. But my son who goes to RPi I has his own bedroom, bedroom and study in a house for 700. And that includes a driveway parking place. Oh well, we won’t talk about what I pay in tuition there.
Yea, and remember, rent is determined by location, location and location. You can’t compare Troy, NY to just outside DC…
Yeah I get it… And I can’t complain too much because overall I pay much more for the other kid. Looks like we may have to pay more in room and board for off campus than on. Most places seem to require a 12 month lease. But if he doesn’t get himself in gear, he will be living at home because he will not have a place. (Long commute, BTW, but not impossible).
Yes, but if he gets a summer internship nearby or takes summer classes, then it does make it worthwhile…trying to find a silver lining ;p
I was talking with my cousins who live in Bavaria, Germany. They just got into University and not only is it free, but they get housing at a discount compared to if they were not students. I think 1/3rd the cost of their rent is discounted by the govt. We are doing something wrong in the states, it’s starting to become where only those who are from well off families can go. In 10 years we will be screwed with all the talent and potential that is/will be going to waste…
I’d have to say that is the worst thing about this campus–the housing situation is absolutely awful if you are not a friggin millionaire…
But the overall cost of attendance still is not bad, compared to many places.
mkgoggins — just curious, where is Bavaria, Germany? Isn’t it just a region?
