Am I terribly behind??!

Well, your writing sample is easy enough to locate, seeing as how that would be something you have already done for class before. The rec is not really your problem … not much anyway … since you’re not the one filling it up. Get your essays done. Are you done with the interviews?

Some of the schools don’t require a writing sample so you should check on that. If Blair and MPS don’t require it, then you are done other than following up to be certain the rec is completed and writing in the short answers. Also, you should include deadlines to help judge how much more time you have. If all the deadlines are around 2/1, then you are OK. Focus on getting the essays done. If you have a few great essays, you can often rewrite them to meet a school’s requirements rather than writing new essays for every school.

It’s shame that you don’t have at least one graded writing sample from your school this year. Next year in boarding school, you will do far more writing.

we are just as far behind!! lots of rough drafts for the essays and short answers done, but none are finalized! I still have to do the parent statements – but the teacher recs are done.

School is out until the 7th and my son has no graded essay – his teacher keeps them and in the excitement of christmas break, he forgot to ask for one.

hsmomstef, is there any way you could contact his teacher and ask if she could drop it off or you could pick it up? many teachers would not mind doing that

we are just going to plan on sending in everything on the 8th – which will still meet the deadline. No way to contact the teachers at home.

My son’s english teacher has not given back his last essay either. The school mailed her all the rec envelopes and I included an envelope to mail me the essay so I could get it copied. Haven’t received it and none of the schools have any of our rec. yet. They go back on 1/7 so I will have to start harassing the teachers because his first app ia due on 1/10.

im using a history essay is that ok?

don’t worry, i’m behind too. But i’m going to get all apps. done by this sunday. or that’s my goal anyway. and does it really matter if you’re behind? just get it done. :)

my five applications are done. some of the schools have responded that they were received. do all schools have a process?

I’m way behind too. only got like 1/2 of my work done. All my teachers sent in their recs, but I didn’t pass in application. Is this a problem?

the problem is that I do not have any writing samples! we havn’t done essays yet in my school!!

MPS and SGS interviews are done

crickett did you write any last year or do you have one from history class?

the ones i wrote last year have been tossed out and i havn’t had ANY essays in any class.

i think i’ll just ask for a prompt and hope my history teacher is kind enough to grade it for me asap.

yeah crickett, that’s what i did. these apps. are killing me tho, i’m working on st. paul’s right now, i’d better get back to that actually…

I’ve become the procrastinator professional.
While working on my Hotchkiss application I…
- Reorginized my computer desktop.
- Gave myself a manicure
- Watched 2 re-runs of Johnny Bravo
- Tried to take up a british accent.

I am so behind. I need to send everything and make sure my teacher’s sent everything.

haha you guys are not behind at all compared to me. I don’t go back to school until the 7th and I haven’t done anything. I’m probably applying to Choate, so that gives my teachers THREE days to send their recommendations in. I’m not positive I’m applying there, though. All my other schools are due on the 15th, and Andover’s and MX are due on the 1st of February. I’m going to be on a train for ten hours tomorrow, so I’ll probably work on my applications at least a little! haha… I am so behind, but I have four days left of break! :)

I did a lot of mine before winter break (mostly during biology) I just have to polish my essays and write one for milton. As long as you have I would say 3 days to write them, 2 days to let them sit, and 2 days to edit I would think that you would be fine. I’m not so amazing at talking about myself or coming up with topics or writing about these things for a long period of time: that’s why for me it was 6 weeks writing, 1 week sitting, 2 weeks editing. I’m sure everyone will get it done though because that’s just me :)

When I get back the head mistress wants to have a discussion about why I want to leave, hopefully she’ll forget about that, but I doubt it

roses&clovers: Same thing with me about the head mistress thing. I never really understood what the purpose of that discussion is. I think it would me quite tricky to praise both your current AND future school at the same time during that interview, unless your purpose of transferring is something you have no control over. But I doubt that. Lucky me, I got out of that one. :)
