Stay at community college for another year?

I am finishing up my second year at a community college. I had a rough first year (2.5 gpa), but have turned things around and will be finishing my second year with somewhere around a 3.18.

I am considering staying an extra year at community college to get my gpa back up to par. At the rate I am going, I expect to have around a 3.5 by the end of the spring '11 semester. The problem is that I plan on applying for grad schools. Would 3 years at community and 2 years at university look better or worse than the conventional 2+2 with a lower gpa? (1 point or so).

The credit count doesn’t worry me too much, as I plan on racking up a lot with a double-major in Philosophy and English literature.

It shouldn’t matter that you did “3+2” vs 2+2". Just keep your GPA up, participate in some ECs, get some letters of recommendation, and write good essays. You will be just as competitive as other grad school applicants.
