I’ve been contemplating whether or not to go to school or stay home on decision day. If I stay home and get in to the schools, I’ll be able to send all of my friends and family the good news. If I don’t get into the schools, I’ll be able to gather the shreds of whatever is left of my soul. If I go to school however, I won’t be able to concentrate, or function the way I normally would. Any suggestions?
I am always an advocate of going to school
I guess if you really think you won’t be able to concentrate (and if your parents are okay with it) you could stay home. But then you would be stressing in the time between the decisions, at least at school you can distract yourself (some what) …
If you do decide to go to school…Don’t open your decisions at school… Come back home and then open them…
As almost everyone in my year at school is applying to a BS we open all decisions with friends. At lot of us are competing for the same spots in schools but I think learning of the decisions in public is a lot more supportive and fun and takes the edge off of it all.
The reality is that no one completely knows which is the best school for them…it is a feeling not a fact. Be happy with the school you get into and in most cases that school was the right school for you, whether you know it now or not.
Not wanting to be depressing… but a flip side to @Wannaboard suggestion is that if there isn’t any good news (fingers crossed that it doesn’t happen to you @Unkempt-Couth ) there is only so much friends can do. Esp if they have acceptances of their own. Getting a wait list or rejection stings a bit and its up to you to decide whether you up to facing that possibility at school or at home.
Personally (last year), while I was truly overjoyed for my friends, it got harder to keep a smile on my face as the wait lists rolled in…
You can always tell you friends after
Okay I think I know what to do, thank you all for your insightful responses. I appreciate it @Atria @Wannaboard
