Staying back a year to help chances?

<p>I’m a junior right now, and I really messed up my first two years bad. I’m not talking 3.0 GPA. I’m talking more than 4 F’s. I also believe that USAMO is within my grasp if only I had more time. Is it worth it? Will it make a difference?</p>

<p>Many schools allow grades of D and F to be retaken and the grade replaced. If that is the case, taking the time to repeat and replace will probably help your GPA a lot. The original grades will still be there, but not included in the GPA. if not, it is really hard to bring up a GPA. Your best course might be community college and then apply with your grades from there.</p>
