Staying Fit At College

How can I manage to stay fit at university when I can’t cook my own meals?

All I have is a fridge and access to a cafeteria, food court, and restaurants. I mean there are some healthy options subway, pitas, and the cafeteria might have some healthy options but still. I plan on hitting the gym everyday and will probably be doing a lot more walking then I do now but even in high school when I worked out and walked around school I wasn’t in the best shape and still had somewhat of a belly. However after dieting for almost a year, I’m in the best shape of my life and I’m worried as soon as college comes around I’ll lose my abs due to unhealthy eating habits, not to mention alcohol every weekend.

… you assume automatically that you’ll have alcohal every weekend? That alone would kill your abs…

Try minimizing the alcohol and take a PE class. Sometimes we can get a little “too busy” to hit the gym or just don’t feel like it, but if you have a class, you’re definitely going to go on a routine basis. Also, just eat well-rounded meals with a little bit of everything in them. If all of your food items are beige, you’re probably not eating right. If you have greens, brights (fruit, not candy lol), browns, and a few carbs to go with, you should be good. Try ethnic food if they have it around. Most Mediterranean dishes have olive oil (view it as a healthier alternative to butter and fake stuff), and they taste just as good and often better.

Are you a girl/ like drinking mixed drinks? I legit try to only drink mixed drinks made with fat-free mixers (ie non-fat cranberry juice). It tastes the same, and saves several hundred calories a drink.

Im not worried about not going to the gym. I have been going for three years straight now and have always managed to find time.
I’m more concerned about the fact that even when I did go workout and ate unhealthy I still had somewhat of a gut. However when I worked out and ate healthy, thats when I seen some results. I’m worried that I’ll probably eat more unhealthy in college then I ever did before and working out won’t be enough to stay in shape.

How is alcohol every weekend unheard of?

Anyway: eat food, not too much, mostly plants. Lean meats, lots of fibrous foods, snack on fruits instead of chips. Hit the gym e’eyday. Yeah if you’re drinking every weekend you might not have a six-pack but hey that’s your call. I’d rather get wasted than look like Gerard Butler in 300 but to each their own. I think as long as you work out and don’t let yourself have bad eating habits you’ll definitely be in fine shape/condition.

I know kids in high school who drank every weekend and smoked a lot but still had abs, and one had a body building contract. Just stay on a diet and work out correctly.

Yeah I know a bunch of people who drink way more than me, smoke, don’t even workout, eat a ****load and still have a six pack. One of my best friends is completely ripped and he eats junk, smokes, drinks more than me and works out just as much as me but still has a better body, I hate it.

Hard liquor is really low-cal and of course smoking is zero-cal. Just make sure the munchies are healthy…
