STD rate?

I’ve heard in places like San Diego State, one in four students has or have had a sexually transmitted disease. Not sure if that’s possibly true, but regardless:

I feel like the prestigious schools, HYPS and all the other top-level ones, would have a much lower rate of students with stds?

Anyone know if this is true?

Um… because rich white kids are immune to STDs?

gosh you are lame.

no, because prestigious schools are filled with studious 18 year-old virgins.

HAHAHAHAHAHA WOW! A) Why is this even a thread? B) I think RileyJohn has a really good point. The girls in Ivy’s had no time for a boyfriend in high school.

I am really surprised that US News and World Report doesn’t count this in their college rankings.

LOL.

On a related note, I was doing a search for the nearest Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and the first ad on the right side was for STD testing.

I guess it was the word “bed”?

I heard that 90% of people have herpes, but in most people, the symptoms never show up.

I would like to think that smarter students are more likely to practice safe sex than less intelligent students and, thus, students are more academically demanding schools would have lower incidents of STD. Maybe someone has researched this issue, but I haven’t seen it.

^well, there is probably more abstinence at the smartest schools. what with the abstinence movement at harvard and everything. to me, this makes sense. although i REALLY bet there is a lower std rate at BYU than at either the ivies or party schools like san diego state. now THAT would be a funny study.

EDIT: @Kingcam23: and the boys at ivies did have time for girlfriends in HS? hm… i for one am a girl and had plenty of time.
