Steam washer & dryer

I read a lot reviews from retailers’ site but would like to hear comments from really parents here in CC.

Does the steam washer/dryer really that good? Is it safe for cashmere sweaters?

As I know, LG seems the first brand for steam washer/dryer, but now, Maytag, GE and Samsung all have their own line. All are not cheap. So, which brand you own? Will you recommend it?

Thanks!

My mother just got a new steam washer & dryer, she has found that she does not often choose the steam cycle, though I did a load for her of clothes that were used for yard work and they came out decently clean.

Her steam cycles seem to be the longest cycle offered

I’ve had an LG steam washer and dryer for about 4 months now. I really like the steam on the wash cycle but have never used the dryer steam. I can see how it would be helpful to freshen up something before ironing but haven’t had the chance to use it yet. The washer steam cycle is LONG - an hour and 20 minutes easy. If you’re in a hurry or have a lot of loads to do it might not be feasible.

The LG I bought was a discontinued floor model with pedestals that I got for about half the price of the newer versions. If I had to pay the going rate for them I don’t think I would have done it. LOVE the pedestals though, makes a huge difference on my back. I was willing to pay less for the W/D in order to get the pedestals, and I’m glad I did.
