Steinhardt Audition Video and Interview

I was just wondering how much of an impact your audition video and interview for Steinhardt actually has towards your application

I believe it’s 50% is your audition/interview and the other 50% is academics, extracurricular’s, SATs, etc.

It is not really 50-50 in the sense that perfect grades/ EC’s/ and scores will never get you into a talent-based program if your audition is terrible. It is more that applications are reviewed for academics, etc by admissions and talent by the dept. If the dept. views you as a viable candidate according to your talent, then your application and where it stands according to admissions will be taken into account. If you are enormously talented, you still may not get in, because then 50% of your decision is based on the imput from admissions based on grades, etc. The bottom line, is that with a great audition, your academic record will account for 50% of your decision. With a poor audition, your academic record is not going to be considered.
