I’m interested in Steinhardt’s MCC program in order to pursue a career in Public Relations and Advertising (Fashion). NYU is my first choice and I am going to be applying ED I.

I have a summer job now, working at a restaurant slinging sandwiches. Does that help??? Would appreciate someone chancing me…

I’d say you look pretty good for EDI in Steinhardt. The GPA is a bit low but if you are at a highly competitive private CA school then it is prob good (meaning grade deflation?). You just mentioned selective so hard to tell where you sit. Most CA publics show much higher gpa’s for top students.

That said, I have heard that the admissions are not as tough with stats in Steinhardt but I would go back through the last two years accepted threads and check out what the accepted gpa’s have been to that school. I think your 29 or possible 30 will be good and your EC’s look good. Just write killer essays. Good luck!

Thank you so much for chancing me. My GPA went up to a 3.75 weighted and about a 3.6 unweighted. Next year I am aiming for all As my first quarter, in order to improve my GPA.

Thanks for your advice!

hey there! i was accepted for MCC for fall 2011 (class of 2015) so i thought i’d give you some input! i’m going to side with squiggles on the fact that your gpa is probably a little low, but if you’re taking a rigorous course load (which you are with your APs) that reflects positively, so good news there. i would also recommend getting a 30+ on the ACT (or SAT equivalent) to offset any gpa discrepancy (kind of like a little padding.) also, my biggest piece of advice to you would be to ENSURE that you write a really good general common app essay and UNIQUE supplement answers. these are the only real opportunity that you are given to show the admissions reps your voice, so make them listen! remember, you’re applying to a COMMUNICATIONS type program, so being able to communicate effectively is key! :stuck_out_tongue: the most important thing is to make sure that you can hear your voice in your essay/supplements and that you are being genuine. best of luck, hanlier!

and kudos on wanting to do fashion PR, thats why i chose MCC as well! good luck again!

thanks for the advice! so great that you got in!! please keep me posted on how the program goes  have tons of fun next year!
