Steinhardt fit

When people say that Steinhardt looks at “fit” what does that mean??

I’m in Steinhardt now and from what I know, “fit” means that you satisfy their views of a student.

In Steinhardt, they place more weight on community service and clubs since the school has a more people-oriented focus. While test scores and GPAs are important, how you spent your time and who you interacted with during high school and during your free time are more important.

That’s what I’ve heard and after the orientation, I kind of believe it too. The people in Steinhardt are more people people if that makes sense. They’re more into talking and getting to know others better (the majors in Steinhardt are music, education, nutrition, media, culture, and communication, and applied psychology- all majors that require people skills). I’m pretty sure that’s what a “fit” means and I think other schools within NYU have their own “fit” too.

Hope this explains things a bit and good luck with whatever you plan to do!
