DS submitted an application to NYU Steinhardt for Regular Decision and is patiently awaiting prescreen results. However, no callback or rejection has been received so far. Recently, an email was sent to admissions, and the following response was provided:
“Only applicants who are being invited for a callback audition will receive a notification within a week of the final prescreen submission deadline if the faculty requires more information. Those who are not invited for an in-person callback audition will not receive notification. Being invited to a callback—or not—is not an indication of a final admissions decision to NYU. If you do not receive an audition callback, the next response will be from admissions regarding their decision.”
What does this mean? Is it an indication of rejection? Has anyone heard of a case where someone was admitted without a callback? The uncertainty of waiting without clear information is never easy. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
