I want to apply in beginning of July for Pitt, and want to be 1 of the very first people to apply there What information do I need to get ready before applying, and how do I apply??? Step by step, what do I do??? What is the process of successfully applying to Pittsburgh Main Campus. I want to study Pre med, neuroscience as a major.

If you visit the school, they often hand you an app and you can apply for free there. If it’s on line, call Admissions and find out when they expect the form to be ready at earliest. Take a look at last year’s app, if you can, download it and fill it out, so you have everything right at hand. Have your test scores and transcripts ready to be sent out right away. That might be a stumbling block if your high school is on hiatus in July, so maybe have them sent before they close up shop for the summer, but make sure you check with Admissions as to when they start the 2013-14 folders or your transcript could just go no where.

cptofthehouse - Yea called admissions and they say at earliest they start June 15 accepting applications.

Know all of your basic info (they may ask things like where you parents went to college, I can’t remember), including addresses of your home and school, SSN, etc.

Write your essay and have it ready to go.

Contact your three teachers (I’d suggest teachers whose classes you did best in/mirror your interests in college) and ask them to write their letters and have them mailed on June 15.

Create your resume of activities (MS Word doc is fine) and have that ready to go on June 15.

Talk to your GC or whomever is in charge of transcripts at your school. Ask if you are allowed to have transcripts mailed in the summer. If so, have them mail your transcript on June 15.

Go onto Collegeboard and pay to have your SAT scores sent to Pitt on June 15.

By the way, if you math/science background is weak and you don’t have a strong GPA or SAT to support it, you should apply to Pitt Main as an Undecided A&S student. Once you get there you can declare your intended major.

AwesomeOpossum - What about where I apply??? On the Pitt website?? Do I need to create an account??

Pitthopeful - all the instruction are online:
“You may apply with our printed application or online. Details of required supporting documentation are listed with each application.”
Read the website carefully - if you want to apply electronically - click the link “online” in the sentence above on this page: [University of Pittsburgh: Undergraduate Admissions & Financial Aid](http://www.oafa.pitt.edu/freshadm.aspx)

Once you are in the electronic application - you can click “create Account” first

southeastmom - What is the printed application you are talking about?

Look at the website I linked above. On the right side is a link “Printable Application” under Related Sites.

If I applied to Pitt on June 15th how much would that help my chances of getting accepted as compared to if I applied in July/August/September? I’m working on getting all my information set so I can apply June 15th.

Is that even possible ? Your counselor has to send the transcript.

Are you taking the June 2 SAT ? Your scores get send after 18 days(so June 20).

XtremePower - I talked to my counselor about transcript and they do send them out you just have to fill out a slip. Also you are right about the June 20 part, so I will be applying June 20.
