Stereotypical essay topic?

My Common App essay starts off with a little anecdote on how I used to enjoy searching, finding, and studying unusual insects when I was a kid. I am trying to parallel this into an essay with a theme which says:

"I found nothing more enjoyable than the suspense of the search, nothing more exhilarating than the thrill of the chase, and nothing nearly as gratifying as the achievement of the long-sought goal, often the capture of a Chinese Mantis or an elusive Hercules beetle. For me, life is about the pursuit. "

Is this a stereotypical topic? Is the enjoyment and pursuit of goals in life something everyone writes about?

if it matters, my spin will definitely be different and I am a pretty good writer.

Bumpppppppppppppppppppppppppp

…ittty bumppp

I don’t think many people write about insects. The theme doesn’t have to be unique, indeed you will find very few different themes, but the unique elements are what matters.

Well, just be careful you don’t pound a mesage that nothing, including the variety of college experiences over the next four years, can ever match the insect hunt.

I think you have the makings of a very strong essay. Trust you gut and go with it.
