Stern Academic Advising?

<p>Okay, so they talked about academic advisors at Sunday at the Square last month (they being the dean and everyone), but what exactly do academic advisors do? Are they sort of like guidance counselors?</p>

<p>Anyway, is the Office of Academic Advising open over the summer, and would they reply to emails sent to them over break? I mean, there is the summer term, but… I have a few questions about classes, studying abroad, etc… is the Office of Academic Advising the right place to ask for those questions?</p>

<p>Argh, I need NYU Pre-Frosh for Dummies or something.</p>

<p>Yes, they’re pretty much guidance counselors. I’ve only ever talked to them about questions like what classes to take or how to go about declaring a minor, etc, but I get the impression that they’re more than willing to help you with a wide range of questions you might have.</p>

<p>Yes, they’re open and will reply to emails. Yes, you should be asking the advisors about classes & studying abroad.</p>
