ds accepted to stern/nyu and uw. Stern is his dream school but the fa is awful and he would be looking at $40,000 year in loans. Listed major for uw as econ so not considered for ea to Foster and unfortunately did not apply for honors - uw was his safety, didn’t think he would be going there. All loans from uw so difference of $20,000 year. Is stern worth the extra $20,000 a year?

80k in debt will make life hell. If he wants to do finance at Stern, he’ll have to compete with the pool of competition with peers fighting for internships.

Money seems to be a huge concern. Swallow the pain, do well in Foster and work towards the MBA (which matters more in the long run anyway)

Thanks for the feedback AvgAsian. We decided as a family that it was just too much money and he will be going to UW in the fall. He is waitlisted at Penn/Wharton but knows that is a very long shot. I wish we had found this site a lot earlier in his college search, can’t believe how ignorant we were about everything. He is going to do early fall start and apply for honors/Foster as soon as it’s open again. He is disappointed but ready to move forward and do his best here.
