Steve Jobs resigns from Apple

That’s what Boot Camp is for.

There is also now a large gaming market untouchable for Windows too.

In the last two years, Apple has been working on lower-cost computers.
The MacBook Air models are good examples. Intel has the Ultrabook
platform but all of the other computer makers are finding that they
can’t make an Ultrabook for less than what Apple’s costs are. Apple
is looking at leveraging their size and cash to usher in lower-cost
phones and computers.

Apple’s move into the elementary market was with the Apple II. Their
current move into the elementary market is with the iPad 2. I do believe
that they made in-roads into the elementary and up market with some
districts buying them for all of their students but I think that this
would be only for wealthy districts.

~Bootcamp
Hey I bought a overpriced mac who I can use bootcamp to install windows to run the programs that I can’t run in mac.
Not sure if srs. What “large gaming market”?

You call 1000k a “low cost” computer?

Also being an engineer doesn’t make a person computer literate/ logical consumer

Phones and game machines.

Sony’s ultrabook starts at $2K and easily goes to $5K. Nobody else has anything in that space.

Well, I’m a software engineer with a background in consulting. I also am into investing and trading and have made many tens of thousands of dollars on Apple stock - certainly more than enough to pay for my Apple toys. Why not when they are free?

All phone games can be emulated on a computer. How do you think ios and android developers test their games? Most of the popular mobile games are based on flash games. Angry birds is pretty much a reskin of crush the castle. There is atleast one similar game running on box2d released every month.

A lot of new games that come out are ported to both computer and game consoles. The difference here is that I’m maxing out metro 2033 and crysis on my 1000 dollar computer, you’re stuck with an MOBILITY graphics processor on a Desktop. If need be, I’m going to upgrade to Southern Islands, while you’re buying a new imac.

But hurr durr not everyone plays games amirite?
Thats why there are a lot of viable choices from 400 dollars that will run all the casual programs and play all the videos while costing less than than your 1000 dollar air book with a restricted processor.

Most laptops over 2k are durability laptops built for people who rough terrain.

Yes, I know. My son went through the first couple of lessons of the
Stanford course a few months ago.

Son’s school offered a course on iOS programming in the Spring and
there was a demo session on their results. How do you think the demos
were handled? The theme for the course was to use the accelerometers
to measure forces on sports equipment. How would you do that on the
computer? It’s easy to tape an iPod Touch or iPhone to a tennis
racquet and hit balls. It’s a little harder to tape your PC to a tennis
racquet to do the same thing.

I have three desktops: Nehalem i7 running Oracle Enterprise Linux, 9
GB of RAM and large disks, Nehalem i7 running Windows 7 with 9 GB of
RAM and large disks, Sandy Bridge i5 running Windows 7 with 16 GB of
RAM, 120 GB Intel SSD and large disks. I use a 17 inch MacBook Pro for
a laptop.

If I needed a powerful Mac, I’d just buy a Mac Pro.

A coworker just bought a Sony Vaio Z 2 after asking for my blessing
last week. His configuration comes up to $4,800. Many of the people
that I work with don’t have dollar constraints on computer purchases.

Apple sells a lot of laptops over $2K and they aren’t durability laptops.
Sony sells a lot of laptops that start at $2K and they aren’t durability
laptops.

There aren’t many players in the luxury market.

Why should I do that when I knew an &^*(% like you would do it for me, Xiggi?
