Stick Vacuum - current recs?

I had a basic cordless swiffer which was great but soon got to the point the battery was dead. Ugh. It was the easiest.
I had a big Dyson that I loved but some plastic part broke and I couldn’t fix. Got mad.
Got a cheaper Shark which was advertised as good as Dyson but not even close. It was top heavy and didn’t do edges.
Still have it and H thinks it’s fine.
Black Friday had Dyson (total clean) at Sams for 100 bucks off and I bit. Love it. But for whole house not for quick spurts.

For the kitchen quick clean-up (in the mean time, in between time) I use a broom on my floor. It’s super easy, quiet, fast. A Libman with a dust pan. I admit it’s old school and low tech. No plugging in, no big deal. Very low tech cordless option that actually works very well. Just sayin’

OP here. I believe (but I like hearing your real life experiences) that I am looking for an easy to store, easy to handle vac that I can run daily on my hard surfaces (or more often if needed). It needs to be light too. Quiet would be great too but that is a lesser priority.

Yes, I can use a broom and dustpan, but in reality I.Just.Do.Not.Do.That. Call me spoiled, but when I have been at a vacation home etc I see how easy it is to pop a stick vac off the wall and vacuum up the crumbs, dust bunnies and invisible dirt from outside.

Costco had the V10 Total Clean Cyclone for $80 or $400 which is still hard to swallow for me. The V8 animal stick was regular priced fat $400.

@surfcity the Dyson V8 does go on sale every few months, I’ll bet it will come on sale at some point soon. You can also go to Dyson outlet store, they should have some refurbished ones for cheaper prices. I have one of the Dyson heat+cool fans from the outlet for about half price, which has worked very well for me for the past 2 years.

I’m on the market for a stick vacuum. What did you end up getting?

@Midwest67 I ended up with a Shark. The reviews for all of these products were all over the place so I tried not to let them influence me.

I focused on what I knew I wanted which was cordless and bagless, and easy to maneuver. This model has the weight at the top which I didn’t mind.

It’s incredibly easy to quick change it to a handheld and vacuum up the crumbs inside a cabinet or dust on a windowsill. And I love being able to grab it after dinner and do a quick zip around the kitchen to get crumbs or dust bunnies.

I don’t think it’s great on carpet but I did not buy it for that. A quick zip through is fine but I think you need a heavier duty product in addition to this for carpet.

For my needs it is doing a great job. I don’t have to charge it too often and it’s very easy to do. The convenience of it makes me use it often which is what I wanted.

Thanks! I am momentarily paralyzed after reading way too many wildly differing reviews this evening! Oy.

I have the hot pink Dyson, I think it’s the V6, bought it at Costco on sale. I love it. I also have a shark in a vacation home, and what I don’t like is that though it’s a stick, it’s not cordless, it always needs the cord. I LOVE cordless, it’s just something that causes me to use it way more and not whine to myself about hating dragging the cord around. The Dyson pulls a ton of dirt out of carpet, the biggest flaw is that there are a couple of spots which can catch sticky stuff (think cobwebs) or lightweight fluff, that blocks the airflow and is hard to figure out the first time or two.

Home Depot has the Dyson V7 on Today’s Deal (Monday, Nov 18) for $219. I’m thinking I will order it before midnight. Also believe it has free shipping. It seems to get mixed reviews. Most love it, but several saying the battery life is less than the advertised 30 minutes.

Battery life on a Dyson stick has been less than 20 min in my experience back when we bought it a few years ago. Not enough to do our stairs. Returned. Maybe I should give it another try.
